The 10 minute number that's all cobbled together?! :D

I play bass on "I Wasn't Recording" and do a remarkable job of holding it together, if I do say so myself. Only problem is, I have no recollection of that song. Or most of them. We just make this stuff up and record it and then move on.
The last two rehearsals I have recorded everything on my laptop and worked all week to edit it down. That helps keep the memory fresh, as opposed to the drummer handing me a thumb twith this 3-6 month old stuff.
Thanks for listening and the compliment.

Would love to hear it. The "Eye Of Horus" title just kind of came to me as we (that drummer and myself) were seriously into Iron Maiden at the time. Even went to see them on that Flight 666 tour in 08, when they brought back the older songs and the Egyptian stage set.
There's probably too much lead guitar on the track, but go for it. Or we can make a new version. I'm getting better about sharing files and following through on stuff.

Wasn't sure where we stood on this one. I can dig out the master tape and cut a new version with no lead guitar (or less).

Also, Displaced Pianist guy. Wanna lay down some stuff on some garage rock? I mean, literally, we play in a garage.

Here's my latest mix of 'Miss Mexico'. I still don't have it quite where I want. I fiddled with the bass and got the tone to a more-loose sound, which I like, but now the acoustic guitar is a little obscured. Also did some funky stuff with the lead vocal (double panned echo) and an Abbey Road trick on the reverb.

yeah, byrdish..burrito-ish harmonies.

that's a different bassline than the previous version, no? certainly seems like it's mixed more up front. i like the "grunt" of it (tube preamp?) and rhythm/phrasing choices you made w it. and i dig the bernie leadon tone of your tele!

oh, crap...now THIS is weird. as i was typing that about B.L.....your tune finished and some gal's version of "Desperado" came up next on the SC player! wow..how's THAT for synchronicity??!?!

I think it's the same bass line. It's DIed into the computer, and I'm using a Silverface bass amp sim, so I tweeked that for less drive and more tone, and put a compressor on the input, and then EQ after the amp to add a little more pop.
Now I've got to figure out how to bring the acoustic out a little more when all the instruments come in - either just a touch more volume, or a little EQ work, or both.

I'd cut the keyboard volume by 3db first.
Try it and see what you think.

Funny, I had actually boosted the keys a tiny bit, and pushed the panning over a little further too. I don't think the keyboard is masking the acoustic as its only when the rest of the instruments come in that the guitar gets lost.

Yeah, I remember when the first remastered CDs started coming out and all of a sudden you could hear things like that. Of course part of that was the remixing the ME did, too - boosting up stuff that had been EQed away to get rid of the mud that was inevitable with vinyl.
