I don't really mind the pain that much. It takes thousands of chord changes to wrack up my fingertips . . . or - 3 - 4 hours of practice . . .
.
When I play with other people, we only stop when THEIR fingers hurt, not mine . . . my fingers never hurt before theirs, believe me . . .
My fingers are actually pretty damned tough . . . it's the kind of playing I do that shreds my fingertips . . .
Most of my new stuff averages 1 or 2 chord changes a second, so I'm not concerned. Steel-stringed acoustic guitars weren't designed with my kind of music in mind.
And I intensely dislike plastic strings . . .
The simple solution would be to put down the acoustic guitar, and pick up the electric guitar, which is easier to play. I can probablt play for 8 hours on an electric . . . but 4 hours is still a pretty long time to practice on any instrument, eh?
. . . that's half of an 8 hour day . . .
My fingers usually return to a completely normal looking appearance in about 2 days, now . . . it's really no big deal to me, anymore . . .
Thanks for the suggestion . . .
.
p.s,
The picture I use here as an avatar is nothing. :)
If you want to see some real calluses, got to my myspace page, and go to pics, MISC GUITAR.

Remember, "Misc. guitar." You'll see a copy of the picture at the left, but click on the other picture of my fingers . . . yep, I play guitar , once in a while . . .

And as usual, I get the call literally 15 minutes before I was going to be out the door, all my gear packed up..

One of the guys has the flu so no auditions today...

This is frustrating

S'ok.
You've got a little extra time to practice, that's all, eh?

Why did I leave Seattle? wrote:I have attempted to contact several GR musicians, which I now believe are just posers, on Bandmix to see if they're interested in doing some home recording on my latest project. Nobody except one person has even replied. It's no big deal if you're not interested, but at least have the decency and common courtesy to reply and tell me you're not interested. OY!
