It matters not.

Rom 13:1 Obey the rulers who have authority over you. Only God can give authority to anyone, and he puts these rulers in their places of power. :)

Slacker, It is so good to hear from you. The problem with Rom 13:1 is a conundrum. God gave us freedom of choice from the very beginning when man was given choice to choose the fruit.
NO MAN IS BETTER , THAN ANOTHER, except in his choice. I say let God sort it out. Way beyond all judgement that man can inflict.
Not my problem... It's Gods problem.
President of the moment is no more important than the guy on the street selling loosies...
That's how far out of control this has become.

Glen,

"The problem with Rom 13:1 is a conundrum."

Certainly not to argue but Rom 13:1 is not a conundrum in my understanding. I understand that choice and predestination go hand in hand. Before anything was created God foreknew our every thought and choice, if that were not so some would not have not been written into the book of life before creation. God had foreknowledge of what each and every man would do. So we were created with Gods foreknowledge, we were created according to our choice. And God created those he desired to use for his purpose regardless, both good and evil, and therein lies predestination. But these scriptures below reveal Gods choice, not mans choice. God does interfere in the lives of men whenever he choses to do so.

Did Jeremiah have a choice?

Jer 1:4 Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Jer 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations."

Did Pharaoh have a choice?

Romans 9:17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "I have raised you up for this very purpose, to demonstrate my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth."

Did these have a choice?

Rev 13:10 If you are doomed to be captured, you will be captured. If you are doomed to be killed by a sword, you will be killed by a sword. This means that God's people must learn to endure and be faithful!

Are these also personal decisions of men?

1Sa 2:7 Our LORD, you are the one who makes us rich or poor. You put some in high positions and bring disgrace on others.

Pro 16:9 We make our own plans, but the LORD decides where we will go.

Dan 4:32 and you shall be driven from among men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. And you shall be made to eat grass like an ox, and seven periods of time shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will."

Dan 2:21 You control human events-- you give rulers their power and take it away, and you are the source of wisdom and knowledge.

Personally, I do not view Rom 13:1 to be a conundrum

Yes, they absolutely did have a choice.

Romans 13 is about believers being good citizens, beyond reproach. Its not about being nice as we're led to slaughter. We are also commanded to be salt & light, which means we have a responsibility to do what is right, even civilly in our nation. That means we make choices based on a different standard than our own bellies.

It's a cop out to say that whatever happens is God's will, if & when we are choosing rebellion. He didn't "will" for Pharaoh to harden his heart, He simply knew that Pharaoh was so arrogant and rebellious that it would happen as God did what was just. He didn't "will" for Israel to go into captivity, they made the choice to turn from the God though He told them what the result of that decision would be many times in advance.

We have the same situation today. Those who choose blessing will do what is right no matter which way the wind blows. Those who do not, will go on choosing to do what suits themselves.

God has a different scale of measure than our economic prosperity. However, blessing is a result of people choosing what is right, yet I believe America will soon see the result of turning the other way.

Slacker, my friend, I will not go toe to toe with you over scripture. You are very competent in your knowledge.
My beliefs are very simple. I have a charge from God to treat all men with love and concern. I know, I know... I haven't always treated Planet Guy and some of the others from that perspective. That is my fault...
However, when another man draws their sword in an attempt to disrupt the charge from God... Love, concern, compassion... Is it wrong to protect the weak? Is it wrong to draw your own sword in self defense?
Yes it is a conundrum. I don't have the wisdom to delve into scripture with absolute certainty. I do have the wisdom to stand up to any man that comes to me with a drawn sword... Even if I lose, because in the end, it is the will of God.

Do you know where Hillary's largest funding comes from? If she wins, it will be his doing and when he pulls out, she's done.

Do you know the biggest backer for Democrat candidates are since MoveOn? Do you know who funded the Canadian Trudeau (who just plotted at the White House with Obama) and the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, both uber-socialist leaders who just came to power out of nowhere?

Do you know who the financier of Occupy, Black Lives Matter, ACORN, drug legalization, and open borders is?

George Soros is exactly who I said he is. Every banker and political leader in this world knows it.
