this time i thought it might be fun and interesting if we took a chord progression, and everyone came up with their own idea(s) of how to approach it, and so dress it up in whatever clothes and instrumentation you 'd like....
record and arrange it as a waltz, a straight up pop tune, a heavy metal throw down, a bolero, WHATEVER floats your boat! hey, some of you lyric guys like Ted and Mike B might even go that route. after you've recorded your version put it up on your profile page....or i suppose we could do a drop box thing....or????
could be a single instrument.... or a multitracked masterpiece (masterbastionpiece?).
w all the good musicians on this forum, i think it'd be most interesting to hear what folks come up with! and who knows...we might be able to put some of the sniping aside for two minutes or so, doing the one thing we all love and have in common.
i know that not everyone has access to the latest recording equipment or a way to post.....for those folks like (schmed and dayne) you might just film a little youtube w your phone (or someone else's) put it up and share the link.
ok, who's up?
since this is my idea, i get the to pick the first chord progression. and remember, you can arrange this w ANY feel you like....repeat the A section twice or 20 times your call before going to the B section. whatever.
here's some chords i was messing around with earlier that might be a good (and not too cliche) vehicle for everyone to run with and sink their teeth into.
A Section:
Em7/ BbMaj7/ 4x (or 8, 16 ...whatever)
B Section:
FMaj7/ Am7/ BbMaj7/ BbMaj7/
FMaj7/ Am7/ BbMaj7/ B7/
thoughts? who's in?
I could not come to grips with the chord progression.. due no doubt to an infertile mind, my best musical days are years behind me, psychologically damaged by the injustice of the whole music industry.. too many "hot dogs" seeking glamour and fame, with not a pot to piss in.. to get passed up by musicians that could not play Jean Luc Ponty's easiest tune only to have a fan base making them commercially successful.. a fan base thrilled to suck in the blandest and sorriest of musical debris littering the badlands of reclusive 90 lb. worms basking in glory..no, I have had enough and have sworn off music altogether because people can not understand my idea of what music is, but a tonic to relieve the soul of the stress of modern day living.. a true musician charms the beasts with his music and charms the masses with music, but alas, it was not to be for me.. I sat the musical instrument down for good realizing it has steered me away from reality, into a life of daydreams, with no productivity coming henceforth.. so it rots in the corner, awaiting a nymph to pick up where I left off, I carried the torch and bore it's burden, but it is time to surrender to repeating cycles of doom and desperation,
