Hey gang. I'm a solo singer songwriter in Austin looking for some band mates. Namely a bassist and drummer. Lead guitar could be cool, as well. I play uke and my style is folk rock. We'd be playing all originals.

Here's a link to my music.

Give it a listen, and if you like what you hear send me a message.

I've been playing in bands for near 20 years. Finally decided to get back to writing a little over a year ago, and I really like what I'm coming up with. Currently I'm just playing a sh*t ton of open mics trying to meet people to join up and form and awesome band, but I figure I'd give the innernet a shot, too.

are you having any luck with the open mics? I went to several, namely Big Momma's on Commercial St. Springfield, and found it was usually a solo or duo doing some original song with acoustics that was a sub-par performance trying to emulate Dylan or Kingston Trio?.. the sofas were comfortable, and comfortable enough to almost nod off, imo, they (open mics) have deteriorated in quality unlike the open mics Steve Potts hosted at Lindberg's on Commercial St. 15 years ago, had real rock bands like Prime Cut and good lead vocalists that was easy to just get up and play electric guitar, and approached afterwards with offers to get hired as a guitarist (Mike Lehar) .. Potts wanted me too, but gigs were in Tulsa (Tiki Lounge) and St. Louis and I was working full time at Ryder still, could not travel at all, and play out of town gigs.. today I received a few comments from a Blake H on craigslist but he lives in Wheatland again too far to travel to get-togethers etc. look up Blake H on Soundcloud, he has some interesting fusion like stuff try listening to "Urbanized" by Blake H..

really lovin' "Ain't No Fun" .. I would play bass behind this very professional sound :D and if you have not composed a bass line, I could do that too.. :)

If you're trying to put a band together to back you up ("Me and the Somebodies") doing your original songs, then you better be willing to pay them to rehearse, or be able to ensure them of good bucks as soon as you start playing out. I understand Austin is filled with bands and players, so decent-paying gigs are probably as hard to come by as most other places around the country.
Although open mics are good ways to network with other players in the area, you won't find many bassists or drummers at them - look for open jam nights, you're more likely to find band players that way.

Yeah, I listened. In Austin there's a million and a half singer/songwriters trying to make it. And bands, too. Yeah, he might get lucky to find some players who aren't interested in more than backing someone else, but ...
