the only time I sold cds from a recording done in 2003 was from selling them at CTI Inc. a place I worked once, sold them like they were Girl Scout cookies, to fellow employees, people buy Girl Scout cookies not because they necessarily like the taste, but do it as a goodwill gesture, look at your cds as goodwill, and as jimmy has said many times, get your live act band playing and playing well enough to captivate an audience and have them as "return customers" enjoying your live music while drinkin' beer.. this has been said before, so get it out of your head you will be another Steely Dan that does not play live or tours.. and it's much harder now than in Steely Dan's time..digital world has killed much of the music world off, sit at home :) I really feel like being a "creative writer" tonight so disavow most of what I just said, if you think I am just having fun writing.. :) ..

What everyone ^^^^ said.

Other than (some) musicians, no one is buying CDs anymore - except the fans of the big pop and country artists. Selling a few to friends. or fans at a gig, is the best you're going to do. Internet streaming radio - not surprised these guys are getting shut down for not paying their money. They're not selling any/much advertising (selling ads is a full time job for multiple people), so where are they going to get their money to keep doing it? Like jook says, streaming is legitimate only if they are paying for it, so that you the artist/songwriter gets you royalities (however small).

Note to Dayne - Steely Dan has been touring now for 3 years! Guess the money has dried up that they were getting from CD sales and royalties!

was just trying to say at one time in the 1970's, Steely Dan had the mindset they would not have to tour, and would live off record sales only, which worked well for them long ago :D

I don't get out much. I see most of my shows at the Crescent Ballroom in downtown Phoenix. The Rhythm Room and Char's Has The Blues in Central Phoenix are good for nightly entertainment*.

*never been to either.

Trunk Space for totally bizarre stuff.

Your boy will know more than I do.

Say hey. :D
