I found my first professional bandmembers while living at Eglin AFB barracks/dormitory because we could hear each other jamming in their respective dorm rooms and you simply knocked on the door to find an airmen from another squadron you had never met before at the mess hall etc. worked out pretty good, when Bart Zudell from Detroit, Mich. who was also in the Pratt & Whitney F-15 jet engine squardron, with Jamie, and he could sing very well, it really gelled fast.... Bart Zudell was a personal friend of Bob Seger's lead guitarist too, and he was blessed with the gift of gab, and always smiling and exuberant, a good personality to sniff out good paying gigs, ..

excellent idea for a thread, dayne!

these are the current bands that i play (and gig) with....

i hooked up w the members of Planet Jazz thru the drummer. he and i had worked before in other deals and he had this idea to put PJAZZ together w me and two other musicians he'd played w before. the band's been together since 1992!

The 121's (truckstop house band)....the front guy knew me because i had done a sub gig out there awhile back. he had to let the previous bassplayer go, and so he called me. been playing w 'em 3 1/2 yrs.

Mere Mortals Bluegrass Band.... i had an ad up on clist "mandolinist avail" that they answered. been playing w 'em about 10 yrs now.

Katie Jo and The Tavern Rattlers....i had an ad up on clist.... "fill-in bass player (elec/upright) avail". i got an email from the gtrst.....turned out it was someone i'd known for yrs!

thanks Mark, the idea come from a response I just read in my email, it was somebody who really liked the my two tunes "Blues Unlimited" and "Orlando Lake #31" I linked to in the craigslist ad.. when he gets instruments rounded up he will be ready to go.. LOL.. he plays bass and drums, but it;s a start.. it is fascinating how cl never seems to produce results, but maybe this time it wiill..some of the best players I have ever found (usually in Florida) seemed to always have issues that kept them from getting signed or found.. hocking your guitar for pot and working your way down from a Les Paul to a Squier just was not the right "formula" but hangers on like me, not wanting to see the real deal, that it ain't really about talent so much as it's about organization to make a band successful could not or would not see the light..you get dazzled by true musical genuises only to be let down because of the personalities could not live up to the necessities of getting it done, I'm talking later on after my first pro band w/ Bart Jamie, Sticks and me..the grass looked greener but it was an illusion and a stumblingblock, don't fall for the best lead guitrist in the world, look at the whole picture
