jook, I was wondering if you can play double bass drums and do tom-tom-rolls with flourishes of crash cymbals?, why I ask is I would love to hear some fast and furious drumming on my guitar tracks of

I never heard your comments about this tune, you did say Royal Court (We Need You BAck) was BEAUTIFUL and that you would compose a bass line for it, which is greatly courteous of you.. but you mentioned your new electronic drum set , and would love to hear really raucous drumming added to Devil Inside The Temple, I would compensate you monetarily or trade work with you in some way..

I can't afford planetguy's $100.00 an hour rate, but I am happy for you that planetguy worked for free for you trading licks and stuff.. :D

LOL....you quite misunderstood Dayne!

if you still have that email...check it again. you asked me about going into a studio to record w you and i quoted you "$25 per HOUR with a minimum charge of $100".

so.....that "$100" would get you up to FOUR HOURS of my time! trust me dayne.....that's a pretty damn good deal.

here's the straight poop.....there's only so many hrs in the day. jook and vinny are still waiting on me to add a marimba part to a tune that we were working on.....so, jook will readily tell you that when it comes to on-line collabs i'm not the best at getting things done on sched!

i'm currently playing in four bands that play out. i have gtr, bass, and mandolin students and here and there i do pick up gigs and an occasional session.

and in between that stuff i'm trying to record some of my tunes. soooooooo.....

like i told you before....if you wanna line up some studio time for a day you're at the V.A. in Columbia....i'm in and can line you up a drummer as well.

jook, I want the drums to sound like Keith Moon's work on the end of "Love, Reign O'er Me" off the The Who Quadrophenia album I want 2:20 seconds of the end drumming on that tune applied to the whole Devil In The Temple tune, if you can pull that off, it would be spectacular, and then we would go 50%/50% equity shars on any resulting sales while we are busking in New Orleans. :D

Dayne- dude, first and foremost, I'm an acoustic guitar player. Next I would say bass then electric guitar last. Then the drums.

Keith Moon?? I'm definitely not a rock drummer. I can play NOLA funk till the sun goes down but rock?? Not my bag. Besides I'm having issues w/ my computer. Read my reply to Marky on the Psychobilly thread for further explanation.

BTW- Mark's offer is pretty generous. I'd take him up on his offer! You're not going to find a player of Mark's caliber for that kind of cash.
jook, I understand you are in the learning phase of your newly acquired electronic drum set, but somehow I was under the impression that there were controls with knobs on your set and you can basically enhance basic drum rolls and cymbal crashes and double bass drum beats into monster drum performances .. maybe I misunderstood the concept of electronic drums, that you can start with real elementary drumming and thru the technology of the machine you can make it sound like drumming the operator is not capable of performing on a regular drumset.. I understand jook, no worries here, I would never want to prod you into doing something you are deadset against..thanks anyways :)

Mark- 20 years ago when I was real active playing and touring a little, we wouldn't take less than $25/hour apiece to play. That was breaks included. And free beer and food!

been there done that jook.

how long has it been since you've been gigging bars/restaurants? cos' i got some bad news for ya bro......the pay hasn't gotten ANY better in longer than 20 yrs ago!

the only difference is now there are less places having music and the ones that do....most don't want to pay the going rate of 30 yrs ago for a band. nah....not when they can bring in three or four bands to play.....bring their ladies and their drinking friends...and then the bands split the door!!!!!

whatta racket! but as long as there are musicians willing to do that....the rest of us looking for a fair wage are phucked. :(

and no...i don't play those gigs. why? cos' i ain't a chump.

I went to see a band Saturday night at one of the hotel bars that has open mics during the week. 5 piece band (including girl singer). So they take home (before drinks and expenses) a whopping $40 each. Keyboard player was telling me he is using 'Gigmasters' to bid on private party gigs - these gigs pay much better, but there are so many people bidding on these that you get about 1 of every 20 bid on.
