The right side lead guitar is kind of low in volume and both guitars are somewhat muddy, no real high end 'air' to them. There's also a couple of times when the drums sound out of synch with the rhythm guitar - probably you just got a little off-time with the drums, while the guitar kept chugging along.

How'd you record 15 years ago - cassette?
New version is a little better tone-wise on the guitars, but the right side one is still low in volume.

Better job on the drums, few places where the timing slips up, 2:20, 3:25 and 3:35 and after, it seems to be after the beat for the rest of the song until the ending.

yeah, i gotta go w mike and jimmy on the timing issues.....sorry jook, they are pretty glaring.

"psychobilly"??? nah.....the only thing that hints at that to me is the "train beat" shuffle from the drums. maybe it's not a 100% of the time thing....but usually that genre has a 4 on the floor walking bass line, and if there's distortion on the gtr(s) it's usually not very heavy, and as mike said.....it has some "air" around it. (there's a reason why so many of those rockabillies play gretsch hollowbody gtrs!)

possible fixes??? i'd either redo the drum part.....or fade it out when it starts moving to another time zone. i'd also bring down the rhythm gtr part so it sits UNDER the lead gtr.

I liked it. Listened yesterday. Gave it a "like", which are hard to come by (or is just that my stuff sucks? ).

Reminded me more of this instrumental by Los Lobos.

I don't know. That's why I'm asking. Jimbo's link (and other stuff I've heard) is much 'grungier' than my #.

yeah....but did you notice that band described itself as playing both "punk", and "psychobilly"??? the grungy stuff i heard from them had much more of a punk vibe than "psychobilly" to my ears.

i think of PB....this is the kind of stuff i think of......
