That says you don't know much about Moses. But you come by it honestly since education (especially history) has suffered tremendous damage in the socialist-era of teachers union control since the 60s.

The Bill of Rights and so many of our laws are simply rewording God's law through the words of Moses. Not an exact copy, but definitely the framework of liberty and respect "from the least to the greatest"

RUI Musik wrote:Actually our Bill of Rights is just a reworking of the Magna Carta. All of these documents, and all holy scriptures, were written by men. But you already knew that.

Magna Carta was written by mostly (professing) Christians in a nation of people influenced by the precepts of Judeo-writ. Yet there are several distinctions in our founding documents that can be attributed to their faith in the Judeo-Christian God, and His law.

And though it was literally put into written words by the hands of men, the scriptures were inspired by a Holy God, who knows the end from the beginning. The Law and the Prophets prove it, but you already know that...

Seriously....reading and understanding the bible is the best way to understand the big picture of world history. Apart from that, one simply doesn't know how we got to where we are....and will make statements like the ones you've just made in an honest ignorance.

Proving one's ignorance is not a good use of memes.

But keep on believing that tripe, if it suits you. Who the heck is David Cross anyway? His opinion hardly matters...

Millions (if not billions) of people in history disagree...but only One opinion matters ultimately.

Mr_A_N_Idiot wrote:The Magna Carta, when read in it's larger, unedited, context, was an agreement between the king
and the wealthy noble landowners (oligarchs) who threatened to unite against the king
if they were not granted basic rights limiting the king's interference in their affairs.
. Those rights applied only to those landowning nobles, not the serfs and commoners
who lived on their lands.
The common folks would continue to have to put up with the abuses of the landowners and local tyrants
who were given more autonomy to do so by the Magna Carta..

excellent point!

Whether one trusts the Bible or not, there is no other written work that compares to the impact it has had on world history, and it's contributions to our historical knowledge of pre-modern civilization.

...not to mention it's artistic value merely as a literary masterpiece.

And no Oracle or Seer has ever been able to compete against it's accuracy of future events. So far the score is:

Nostrodomus 5% (if you look backwards and tilt your head sideways) vs Bible 100% (if you read it literally)

Ted, raise your kids to be as ignorant as you want. Makes no difference to me.

Minds much smarter than yours have been proven wrong many times over. I will let the tree and the flower defend God's existence.

RUI Musik wrote:We were not debating the existence of God. We are talking about teaching children a distorted view of history. But since you brought it up, trees and flowers no more prove the existence of God than a quarter under a child's pillow proves the existence of the tooth fairy.

Tell that to the tree.
