The necks are so weak, like demos... I always felt a sharp ax was the best way...
Now as old age sets in I'm really thinking a Smith& Wesson 500 will be a lot easier to silence one of squeaky POS's

Any one count how many fenders were the preferred instrument on stage?

I could never stand that aspect of The Who. He said he had to shoplift guitars to support the habit. Keith Moon put explosives in his drum and blew out Pete's hearing in one ear. The only time it was funny was when they grabbed an instrument from the Smother's Brothers and smashed it. Just play some music man. Take that guitar and put it in a case and use it next time, sheesh!

If you can't tune a Fender Glenny, get your ears fixed. Don't know what you mean by "necks are so weak". Maybe you just like big fat old-style necks?

These days I'm sure there are more Strats and Teles on stage than Les Pauls- because Gibson has overpriced themselves, put self-tuners on everything (last year, they smartened up and removed them for the 2016 lineup). They've also introduced some lower priced LPs to try to recapture some of the market.

Solid as a rock? Yep. With the solid maple neck and ash or alder bodies, Fenders can take a lick or two without falling apart.

Oh, now I see this was Glenny trying to start a non-musical thread in the General Music section to "get even with Mark". BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Notice he doesn't respond to any of my posts anymore. Must have put me on 'ignore' because he ran out of snappy (non-sequitor) comebacks!

the problem w Gibsons and other non FENDERs is the angle of the headstock. that's why you never see FENDERs w broken headstocks (unless someone went all Pete T on 'em, or unless they were used to jack up a Cub Cadet).

i've only had two gtr's headstocks "bolt" from their necks.....my '36 0-17 Martin, and my late '70's WASHBURN HB35 (335 copy..... LOVE that gtr)

Keith Richard nailed a guy with his Tele and it didn't even go out of tune. I have a Tele and a Strat each with Maple necks and they are pretty daggone robust.

I played a friends LP the other night and I noted that it didn't seem heavy enough. He told me the new ones have 'chambers' or some such of air inside apparently to cut back the weight of the beast as many players (not me!) approach geezerdom.
