Hey guys,

Don't know if you saw my comment, but Irminsul had made a respose to someone's post and he started with the words "It's no crime" and.. I don't know why, but I guess that's the nature of songwriters, a whole song came into my head from that inspiration.

It's posted up for comments and critique.

Here's the lyrics:

It's No Crime © 2008 Craig Maxim

Baby, oh baby, you know I got it bad
Yes I do
Something always seems to happen to me
When you walk in the room
Darlin' I just can't help it
My eyes are glued to you

Baby, pretty baby, you're so so fine
Long long legs, soft silken hair
And lips just as red as wine
Looks like yours should be savored
And I'm gonna take my time

----------- CHORUS -----------

Overcoming, temptation's a mountain
But baby, I'm afraid of heights
When those legs walk by,
They catch my eye
Baby, I know it ain't right...
But it's no crime

Aww no, it's no crime

-------------------------------------

Now listen here...
Baby, aww baby, you're spell's on me
Darlin' your magic, is a bad bad habit
But I don't want therapy
If seeing is believing, then girl I'm not dreaming
You've made a believer out of me

Baby, oh baby, you caught me starin' again
Maybe some guys, would turn their eyes, but this ain't one of them
Baby, you know I'm no sinner
Aww... But I'm no saint

(Chorus)

Craig you gotta know that while I was listening I was throwing a bunch of little imaginary bluesy rock guitar parts in there. Cool song and as always the vocals were very nice.

No doubt Mike.

I used a sax part for a lead, but in all seriousness, I was thinking "Man, too bad I couldn't just have Mike lay some blues lead on this!"

And thanks for the props on the vocals. I sang it in a different syle to fit the song. I think it's a cool song, to just come out of nowhere like that. I gave my band the jist of it, BEFORE I recorded it, and they seemed to like it, so we'll probably work it up, as a fun little bar song, just play it up and have some fun with it.

Thanks again bro!

Thanks brother!

And I LOVE that movie, great music in there, so high praise indeed. One of the great band movies of all time! Makes we want to buy it now, haven't seen it in a long time!

Being Irish that movie must hold some extra meaning for you?

btw...What's going on with your project? Have you auditioned any new players?

That's good stuff, Craig. I think the thing that pulls me into it is that I can tell it was written as a complete thought. The idea came to you and then -BANG-there's the whole song. I feel that anytime you can do that, it's going to turn out as a stronger statement. Works like that for me sometimes, and then there are those songs that I have been continually re-writing for ten years or so...

That's almost profound dude.

I meant the part where you said "good stuff" LMAO!!! ;-)

No seriously. That's a profound thought. I mean, you are dead on right. Maybe too, even when we have the "vision" of the song in mind, being a little lazy just to get it done (I'm so guilty of this) detracts from it's cohesiveness as well as from it's integrity as art. Music comes so easily to me. I can write good lyrics, but I LOATHE doing it. Mostly because it is what takes me time.

This kind of song doesn't demand that, so it wasn't a problem. The lyrics are cute and clever, that's all. But I have written other songs, and if I am lazy about them, they are just another simple love song or something, with a good melody, but not GREAT.

I want to write simple love songs and rock songs that are easy to remember and appeal to the masses, but to satisfy myself truly, artistically, I want to write GREAT songs. You don't turn truly great songs out, at the rate of several a day, or even one a week or a month. Really great songs need care and crafting and thought and reflection. There is no assemply line for greatness. It requires true art and alot of work, sweat, blood and tears.

Hahaha.. Cool sh*t Craig..

Craig, man.. You are a true pro dude. I just got a whole old time fun blues vibe from this song.. Gentry would definitely kill in this. The tone of your voice is awesome, the song has a timeless feel. This is a Southern Mischief keeper. Killer.

Wow! I can't believe you came up with something of this quality, that quickly. When you said you may write a song with that, I thought you were kidding. :) Great work too, excellent tune. A good straight out solid song. It's strange with quite a bit of music I have been listening to lately seems to try to have some kind of gimmick or electronic sleight of hand (my stuff included). It's refreshing to come across something that is just basic and really good, minus all the sound meddling.
