Wow....is that your list of alias' so far?

I validate that Jimmy is a great American. I think he listens to and trusts the wrong voices...but he's a great American if he can occupy Detroit.

Really, I validate almost all I've met here as great Americans. America was formed as independent States, and the people in those States all had distinct cultures and traditions from all the other States.

In traveling across America more times than I can count, it's easier to understand why people from some regions are like they are. Jeff would be Jimmy if he lived in Detroit (or die) and Jimmy would be Jeff if he lived in Houston (or get in a lot of fights)

And Mark would be Glenny if he was from whatever planet Glenny is from.

They are both great Americans who would pull together in an emergency.

But Vinny Villa Amos B Hoople Bill ras Nigel & Don Von Bonguiro Egbert Ali Josh Chimera Ormen De Doorman????

I'm not sure if he isn't Obama here to confuse the country even more when he gets a spare minute.

So....back to the topic.

I'd take Obama's stated motives seriously with his crocodile tears if he didn't keep letting violent criminals convicted in GUN crimes out into the neighborhoods of America with frequent impunity by the freakin' THOUSANDS.

He's done nothing except cover for his old ally Rahm Emmanuel and all the GUN violence that happens there every single day of every single week since, well, Obama came into office.

The laws he is proposing would have stopped almost none of the random acts of mass gun violence we have been seeing on the news for the last decade. So I'm wondering a couple of things....

What is his real intention? It can't be to hinder criminals who use guns in committing violent crimes. Not only is his "Justice Department" releasing violent criminals who commit violent crimes with GUNS by the THOUSANDS, but he's also now been importing even more violent criminals who commit violent crimes with GUNS by the hundred thousands, no, the MILLIONS from other nations south and middle east from us.

I think there are several reasonable improvement that could be made in gun laws but, speaking for millions and millions of Americans, I do NOT trust Obama to touch the 2nd Amendment. He can't even open the box it's in. It will have to be another President. He knows this and has decided he'd rather fight (and divide) all of America one last time because he has corrupted our political system and government enough to get away with it.

And the other thing I'm wondering: why the hell don't I hear anyone in politics or media mentioning that emotional manipulation makes for very bad law? Why doesn't someone point out that we have laws that were decided by a long deliberate process to include all Americans, and it is an existential threat to the very deepest held foundational principles of America to leave such things up to one person....like it's no big deal?

You lefty's ought to really think this out. If he sets this precedent, what is to stop Donald Trump from saying he's tired of phone calls from mothers whose daughters were raped by muslims....so they are now illegal.

There is a ying to every yang in politics. That's why we can't allow anyone to change the Constitution outside of the methods prescribed by the Constitution itself, which are deliberate and allow for everyone to be a part of the process.

Apart from that, this is not America.

We are a Republic based on stable law. Instead of crying on national tv about a fuccked up few that have NO PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY... Where the FUUCK is our commander in chief when it comes to protecting our BRAVE SERVICEMEN that are in harms way all over the world!
They are taking bullets, getting shot and killed and not one word is being spoken about protecting them with all the God given resources of America. I SAID GOD! Don't like it...

NOW THAT'S WHAT obama SHOULD BE CRYING ABOUT!!!!!!

I agree with the gist of what you're saying, but people are shaped, or at least heavily influenced, by their environment. Think about it....how many people in Missouri are suicide bombers? How many people in Gaza play Christmas songs in December?

Geography plays a HUGE part in the attitudes of people. In Texas, we are mostly independent sorts who work hard and party harder. In New York they are outspoken and aren't intimidated by confrontation. In California, they are laid back outwardly...even the extremists! Not every person fits these descriptions perfectly, of course, and you do find all types in all places; yet there is a "local spirit" everywhere.

For example, Detroit has always been a union town, and that mentality is not far from socialism so there would be a larger audience for Bernie in Michigan that wouldn't be found in Texas (or a right to work state). Even though Jimmy doesn't support Bernie, a lot of his worldview of government has been shaped by what he sees around him. At this point, I think Detroit will need outside help to make a real come-back but that same government intervention needed in Michigan would be disastrous in Texas because it might make us dependent on an outside source.

So you have Jeff and Glenny railing against a government that takes from our paychecks to give to someone who is only sucking benefits from the system. And, if you allow me to state an observation, Mark & Jimmy do not see that view as compassionate because they've done well enough to have a comfortable life and want to share with the less fortunate around them.

Those who are struggling don't like the idea of giving away their small margins to people who need to learn the value of work. Those who are doing well think that sounds heartless, and don't understand why we would oppose taking a few extra dollars of a paycheck away to give to someone who puts their hand out.

In other words, some want to feed the hungry and some want to teach fishing. Much of a person's national political attitude is based on local situations. I still believe that if we all got together, we'd have a better understanding and appreciation for the diverse views being presented here.

That's where skipping Social Studies has ran you astray Glenny.

The Constitution was created to allow the law to be flexible and changeable.

Laws are not stable. Morals are not stable. They evolve over time. Any system of governance that ignores this is faulty and doomed to failure.

Most people learned this in 7th grade.

Yes, but mostly no.

Laws are what make any political entity stable. Morals are the foundation of a society and therefore the laws that society would make.

America is divided today because half the country doesn't think the law applies to them, while the other half feels resentment about playing by the rules the first half ignores.

Most of the fights we have on Bandmix could have been avoided had our current President simply followed the prescribed remedies given by our Constitution for changing the law on every issue since he took office. That way, everyone would be a part of the process and would not feel victimized unfairly with the outcome of a unilateral change in the law. (With the exception of homosexual marriage since they are no more than 2-3% of the population)

Obamacare is a great example. Conservatives were never against coming up with a solution for people who can't get medical care (though that was the lie told by major media who support Obama). Republican representatives were not allowed to be heard, and the vote was taken in the middle of the night in a locked room full of Democrats. For that reason, I will support anyone who wants to destroy that law and start over. Not that we shouldn't have "health care" but that everyone needs to be a part of the solution, even if it takes 20 years to work it out.

So I agree with your premise that the Constitution was made to be pliable by each new generation, but I disagree with the way both Democrats and Republicans are allowing these changes to happen outside of the remedies given in the Constitution itself.
