I have not given up on you guys yet, but you need to get Slacker involved, he will straighten this all out with his technical expertise.. you guys can't give up, it will be an embarrasment to the BandMix trademark.. :)

i checked it out on your profile page. that's "Douce Ambience"...below are the correct chords (from the Robin Nolen book) that's always been used at the gypsy jams i've partaken in... also what we used in DJANGO'S TIGER, a gypsy jazz group i used to play with.

our version here at the 40:00 min mark

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNnIgNl1EKg

A section
Gm6/D7/Gm6/Gm6
Cm6/Gm6/Ab7b5/Am6
Gm6/Am6/Ab7/D7(1st ending) and /Ab7D7/Gm6/
Cm6/Gm6/Ab7b5, Am6/Gm6

B section

Abm6/Abm6/Abm6/Abm6
Am6/Am6/F7 E7Eb7/DbD7 /

and the form is AABA

one of my favorite django tunes!

I'm sorry to kill your thread w/ Djangology. Watching Django videos doesn't do much for ambition. He kills me.

don't give it another thought. django, jack....it's ALL good.

i never see a thread i've started as MY thread....it's a conversation. and conversations go where they will. that's a good thing, methinks! 8)

Planetguy wrote:i spent too much time yesterday trying to find the gypsy jazz version that i recorded. DOH!!!! still AWOL.

i didn't formally map it out when laid i down the first track (rhythm gtr on my Mac copy), so when it came to time to overdub upright and mando, i just tried to fly by the seat of my pants and feel it out. easier to do on the mando (playing melody) as the bass line had to (try to) nail it!

FINALLY FOUND IT!

i mixed it down yesterday along w another little throwaway version where i was just setting up getting levels and mic placement together. so it's a little rough timewise in a cpl of spots ....but it least it stayed in 4/4 all the way thru so i really have no excuses for my slop!

bass is a '38 KAY C-1, gtr is a PARIS SWING GG42 Grande Bouche (big mouth), and the mando is an '88 Flatiron A5 Jr.

i also got off my behind yesterday and did some overdubbing on Jook's version of the progression per his invite to do so. he calls his version "Blues For Mexico" ...he's playing the ac gtrs on it.

on his first version that's on my soundcloud page, i overdubbed a bass part on my zebra wood P Bass body w '66 FENDER fretless neck and p/u's.

on the second version of his "BFM" i overdubbed a vibes part. i was too lazy to set up mics so just took a direct line off the vbs using it's pickups.

both bass and vibes were plug 'n' play first takes.

you can find all four versions here: https://soundcloud.com/planetguy-1

so can we consider this our Christmas present? the soundcloud website is not loading up today on my cheap worthless dial-up service, I swear they seem to be cheapening up the service by the week, it's worse than 2003 as far as quality of service..$21.00 a mo. for this crap..

"Jaco"??? you must be referring to Jaco Goldfarb, the plumber. at least you didn't say Stu Sutcliffe showed up! i'm glad you liked the abuse i heaped upon your work. 8)
