This sounds spot on to me but there's STILL tons of people arguing about this until they're blue in the face. Read all the opinions on this subject on the web. It's phenomenal. I didn't know their was a cult that followed this subject. Good Lord!!

Can't see the youtube (at work), but the only way to really get the sound is with 2 guitars (and the bass, too).

Schmed-

I'd have to disagree with you on that one (unless it is a recording trick). Have you ever heard the last part of 'A National Acrobat'? I've never heard Santana or Clapton pull that off.

yeah, but there's plenty Santana and Clapton do that i've never heard from Iommi. I've never hear Iommi kill anyone w two or three notes....even ONE the way Santana can. Never heard Iommi sit down w a parlor gtr and play Robert Johnson acoustic gtr like Clapton can.

really, their styles and the genres they play are so different that it's comparing apples and fishcakes.

too bad Iommi wasn't there to it up with these guys here....

it's a shame clapton's rhythm gtr playing is so overlooked.

I meant as just walking into a place and seeing a band. What was the overall sense of the lead guitar? Of course there are more things these guys do differently than the same. But I've seen some amazing shredders, like Satriani, Marty Friedman of Megadeth and the replacement guy in Iron Maiden, Jannick Gers. Those guys blew the doors of and made it look like child's play.

shredders... schmedders. music for me is all about telling a story. i'd rather listen to someone that doesn't need to show off their vocabulary or how fast they can speak than an auctioneer. any day.
