Yes, McCain and Romney were pitiful choices from the GOP Establishment, which is why Trump even gets a look now. Those were never the choices of conservatives and the GOP has lost trust with it's base. In my opinion, McCain was chosen as the nominee to guarantee that Obama won. Doesn't really change the fact that O has been dividing Americans at every place there is a division, and created several more.

But it's obvious and can no longer be disputed: there are two sets of rules at play. We're having a discussion about Carson's college days when Obama has never released any records of his and yet gets a pass from the GE Media. What is most disturbing about this Carson non-story is that GOP establishment media have led the charge to jump on Carson. Yes, we have liberal Republicans running the asylum.
