ok....still trying to access the gypsy jazz version i recorded, but in the meanwhilst here are a cpl of sloppy Soca versions of the tune and another that's just a short little sketch.

all the parts are first takes (turn on the machine and let it go) so there are plenty of clams.
i know it sounds like i was wearing a bandaid when i recorded these....truth is i was wearing TEN!

for now you're gonna have to settle for those loose SOCA versions.

i'll probably have to record another gypsy version from the ground up. funny you mention bluegrass. that version i recorded had the Maccaferi, my '87 Flatiron A5 Jr. mando, and my old '38 KAY upright. the wife usually goes running when she hears me (or anyone for that matter) on mando....but she gave the cut a thumbs up.

i can't get your track to load, jook. you mentioned there was a problem w Soundcloud yesterday.....perhaps after i uploaded my versions yesterday they decided to be a little more selective about things!

i just checked mine and they load w no problem. i'll try your's again later. were you able to get your's (or mine) to play for you?

I had no problem getting into Soundcloud today. In fact, I listened to it all day @ work. I also went to your site and listened to all your interpretations of the secret progression. I was listening to the third (slow) track and I'm going It's a syncopated version of this-

i can't believe the fukker ripped me off and i never saw a dime from it! wow....that is weird. before 5 min ago i'd never been aware of that tune. i swear! well, it's a digital pattern that lays pretty easy under the fingers. i'm sure a lot of string instrument players have gone there before (and after).

My interpretation is also on my profile. All my Soundcloud recordings are listed in my profile. You probably won't like it but that's o.k. I know I have one fan (who shall remain anonymous).

and no problem getting to it now. i don't really hear the changes as originally outlined but that's ok. i like what you've done w it! for me music is four things....

1. rhythm
2. harmony (chords)
3. melody
4. rhythm

i don't necessarily need (nor prefer) strict metronomic time. the best grooving music ain't about that at all, but (IMO) instead is a breathing and expanding/contracting thing. so, while i can appreciate stuff lacking a steady pulse.... after awhile it does grow thin for me.

i was putting the bow to my old KAY on the second listen, and perhaps w your permission i might overdub some arco stuff if you're up.

Don't take this the wrong way. You're a good guy and a very talented one but I just like to discuss the direction this takes. I'm sure you understand where I'm going w/ this.
