If you're a DECENT GUITARIST and want to play gigs two to four times per month, or more, I have a Soft Rock Cover Band forming, as the genre was known back in the day. Also known as Top 40 Rock, I also call this music Dance Rock. I'm looking for SINGERS, KEYS PLAYERS, and a SAX PLAYER as well. Age, race, sexual preference: these don't matter. What counts is your talent and COMMITMENT to the project and to your band mates. I'm seeking like-minded individuals who LOVE TO PLAY OUT in clubs and bars in front of live audiences, and who will just NATURALLY make this project enough of a priority that YOU WILL NOT FLAKE OUT and fail to attend rehearsals and gigs (because of your girlfriend or whatever!). I have the best rehearsal room in town, with a PA to die for, all the amenities, instruments, recording facilities, and local personal contacts for gigs when the band is ready. NO METAL/HARD ROCK/SCREAMERS. Looking for seasoned musicians with a repertoire and great skills, but will consider talented, hard working amateurs.
Song list includes but not limited to the following. Stones: Jumping Jack Flash, Beast of Burden, Start Me Up, Honky Tonk Woman, Brown Sugar. Petty: Won't Back Down, You Wreck Me, Breakdown, Last Dance With Mary Jane. Crowded House: Something So Strong. Tommy Castro: Nobody Loves Me Like My Baby, Can't Keep a Good Man Down. Firefall: You Are The Woman. Van Morrison: Wild Night. America: Sister Golden Hair. Orleans: Still the One. Chris Isaak: Wicked Game, and other hit songs that WOMEN love to dance to. Country hits also included.
I've attended hundreds of shows where audiences just sat there while the guitar gods went thru their "mental masturbation" routine onstage. This is not a project for guys wanting to show off their chops to other guys. This is NOT a "SIT DOWN, DUDE, and LISTEN TO HOW GREAT I CAN PLAY GUITAR" macho type of project. There will be NO GIGS at the PROPHET BAR or the CURTAIN CLUB. NO 4 SONG "SHOWCASES" in Deep Ellum. We will play regular gigs of 3 to 4 SETS. So you'd better be prepared for what that entails. I AM READY RIGHT NOW, just need players who can catch up FAST, and then keep up with me. I have decades of experience, I am a Certified Audio Engineer, front man, singer, drummer, guitar player, etc. I have a warehouse full of gear and equipment. I own 8 PA systems. You don't even need to bring anything to a session but your talent! So travel light.
I've been an ENTERTAINER all my life and that is what this band is all about. It's about getting on stage in small venues and singing/playing well, making women move. We'll get noticed for talent and ability and let nature take it's course. That's why the song list includes tunes with BEAUTIFUL HARMONIES. The rehearsals and audition sessions are conducted at LOW VOLUME. It's all about team players and GOOD SINGING, backed up by PROFESSIONAL style players, who know all about DYNAMICS!
Notice many capitalized words in this post. That's to make clear what the band is all about. Please re-read this post and DO NOT REPLY if you're a flake, unemployed, immature, stoned, addicted, drunk, or unwilling to cooperate. THERE IS NO MONEY to be made, and I am a PROFESSIONAL CAREER MAN (with a day job), who loves to play and sing and entertain. PLEASE don't bother me if you don't agree with these comments and ideas in this post, and if you aren't willing to practice some of the material before coming to an audition. You should be near enough to the Town East Mall area of Mesquite that the drive time won't be a deal breaker for you. Fridays and Saturdays are to be gig nights, so don't give me any nonsense like one guy who said he was in a band for eight years that played out all the time, but his girlfriend wouldn't let him get away on weekends. What CRAP! Reply by text message to Don: 972-757-9735. NO FLAKES!
Thanks and God bless!

This band sounds like no money and no fun. Why would any skilled guitarist choose to play in your project when they could find a dozen others that offered both money and fun? Those of us that gig often like to work with others who understand how to keep it fun.

Mr. Cajundad, I'm sorry you failed to understand my post. It's direct, and a bit harsh, but I only intend it to ward off wannabees and flakes. You know, the kind of losers who talk a good game and then don't show up and don't bother to call either, for their own audition. I've been swamped by these posers and I'm just trying to keep responses coming in from serious players only.
As for money, there is no way I'm promising $$$ to musicians unless I have paying gigs lined up for a band! This is a project in the formative stage, understand?
As for fun, it's always fun at my studio! Nobody ever came to a session and didn't have a great time, because that is our number one priority. If we weren't in it for the fun of it, what good would it do to be a musician, for Heaven's sake!
So, I hope I cleared that up for you. Now get on back to making tons of money in your band, brother.
