An amazing guitarist/song writer!

My favorite REO songs = all of them!

May he rest in peace...but I must admit, I thought he was totally a squirrel.

He came to Beaumont TX in the late 70s and, after the concert, came out to the club where my band was playing. Our set was already over, but he got up to jam with local guitar hero, Scott McGill and got his ass handed to him.

Then, he stole Scotts version of Johnny B. Good and they released it only a few months later. I don't know...but the way he would skip out to do the same modal lead solo in every song just bored me to tears. REO was the epitome of a middle-of-the-road band with no real soul.

REO Speedwagon music always went well at all the keg parties around Chariton in the 1970's..heck, it was one of the few CD's I own High Infidelity..

Quality has to count for something, and those are some good choices! Didn't know you were into jazz so much. My keyboard player (when I travel with a band) produced Pat Metheny in Warsaw with Anna Jopek.

He's got such a signature sound.

Jaco Pastorious is playing with Metheny on that album, believe they were in music school together in Florida, and the fact it has minimal production, 3 piece I think, and that gave them a lot of room to jam out well, I don't know maybe they were sight-reading charts on that album, but a great album..nice and fresh sounding
I somehow got hooked on Ritenour when I owned vinyl album known as RIT where he is standing in front of a brick wall with RIT on it, I was fascinated by the beauty of "Is It You" a hit single , and that album was more of an urban jazz sounding ..Pat Boone Band in Ft. Walton did a great cover of Mr. Briefcase too.

The album with Maria Jopek is live in Warsaw with about 15 people in the band.

Funny you mention Jaco...I'm in south Florida today and someone pointed out the bar that he walked into and smarted off to the wrong person...who proceeded to beat him to death.
