I suggest all you guys take a break from this and go to 'debate school.' Cause you all are batting zero!

Not one mind has been changed in all the years you have been arguing things.

Surely someone is right and someone is wrong? That would seem logical... or maybe a little of bit of both?

I've learned one thing from it. Sadly, things will not be fixed by any solutions anyone has on the table. Somebody who can stand above this left / right artificial dichotomy will have to do it and I can't imagine who could pull that off without being burned at the stake by which ever side catches them first...

DITTO MARK! You post something that flies directly in the face of THE FACTS. Time to come up with more insults... :P

and what exactly did I post that flies in the face of facts? sorry, that's YOUR role here. and slacker's.

you keep regurgitating the NON fact about how the UN resolution wants to take away our guns. that's incorrect.

so either you're ignorant (too lazy to actually research it) or you deliberately choose to misrepresent what the resolution actually is about (in other words.....again, you're lying). like a puppet you're on mission to spread misinformation.

read the below and learn some FACTS.

The Arms Trade Treaty has nothing to do with restricting the legal sale or ownership of guns within the United States. The aim of the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty is to combat the illicit international trade of arms by "tightening regulation of, and setting international standards for, the import, export and transfer of conventional weapons" in order to "close gaps in existing regional and national arms export control systems that allow weapons to pass onto the illicit market":

The Arms Trade Treaty obligates member states to monitor arms exports and ensure that weapons don't cross existing arms embargoes or end up being used for human-rights abuses, including terrorism. Member states, with the assistance of the U.N., will put into place enforceable, standardized arms import and export regulations (much like those that already exist in the U.S.) and be expected to track the destination of exports to ensure they don't end up in the wrong hands. Ideally, that means limiting the inflow of deadly weapons into places like Syria.

The text of the proposed treaty specifically "reaffirms the sovereign right and responsibility of any State to regulate and control transfers of conventional arms that take place exclusively within its territory, pursuant to its own legal or constitutional systems," so even if such a treaty came to pass, U.S. rights and laws regarding the sale and ownership of small arms would still apply within the United States.

and some more of those pesky and inconvenient fact thingies....

The Obama administration has stated that mandatory conditions for U.S. approval of such an arms trade treaty include the following:

The Second Amendment to the Constitution must be upheld.

There will be no restrictions on civilian possession or trade of firearms otherwise permitted by law or protected by the U.S. Constitution.

There will be no dilution or diminishing of sovereign control over issues involving the private acquisition, ownership, or possession of firearms, which must remain matters of domestic law.

Reagan was advised to transfer used and outdated weapons to people who wanted to overthrown the current nihilistic regime of bloodthirsty mullahs in Iran, while at the same time helping oust the Communists who had overthrown Nicaragua.....for the purpose of gaining liberty for Americans being held prisoner in our own embassy by the ineptitude of Carter. Yes, I can understand why liberals would think that is a terrible crime because he trounced the 2nd worst President in American history at the same time.

On the other hand, your heroes illegally invaded Algeria & Libya, illegally tried to overthrow Egypt with the Muslim Brotherhood, illegally started a civl war in Syria, fueled with the illegal secret arms deal they covered up in Benghazi, and just gave $$150,000,000,000 and NUCLEAR WEAPONS to the world's largest terrrorist, Iran, which will be kicking off WWIII sometime in the next year. How many will die from their stupidity and greed? Dozens of millions is a conservative estimate.

And for what? The sold us all out for their own political gain, and nothing else. Greed.

Yea...no comparison there.

Like the hypocrites manipulating you don't? Don't be such a tool of those who think you're a fool. At least the Conservatives think everyone should have the opportunity to earn a profit

It won't be much longer you'll be wishing you had paid better attention to who was lying to you.

you actually believe that fairy tale?

what i think is terrible is that the US chose to support the dictatorial regime of Samoza to protect our financial interests there. that's why we stuck our nose in.

we couldn't have cared less about those horrible communist Sandanistas were it not for the all mighty dollar. so we backed the contras who routinely tortured and raped women and children and were responsible butchering hundreds of thousands. not only did the US finance that...we actually trained them.

BTW when the Sandanistas came to power...they did something Samoza NEVER did...they held elections.

but, i guess lying to the US people, sponsoring rape and torture, and flooding our streets with drugs all w the lofty goal of thwarting communism.... you feel THAT's ok and can excuse it?

Immorally, kicking off WWIII.

you want to talk "illegal".....

In 1986 the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled in favor of Nicaragua and against the United States and awarded reparations to Nicaragua. The ICJ held that the U.S. had violated international law by supporting the Contras in their rebellion against the Nicaraguan government and by mining Nicaragua's harbors. The Court found in its verdict that the United States was "in breach of its obligations under customary international law not to use force against another State", "not to intervene in its affairs", "not to violate its sovereignty", "not to interrupt peaceful maritime commerce", and "in breach of its obligations under Article XIX of the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation between the Parties signed at Managua on 21 January 1956.

never said I excuse it, nor do I support it....but wasn't there a trial and people sent to jail?

I'm just pointing out how hypocritical it is of folks like yourself when your heroes are "lying to the US people, sponsoring rape and torture, and flooding our streets with drugs all w the lofty goal of PROMOTING communism and the largest terrorist regime since Hitler".... and you feel THAT's ok and can excuse it....and no one has gone to jail, or even trial for it yet. I don't recall seeing you demand one either.

See? no comparison.

and who says I support that???

see, that works both ways. the truth of the matter is that i feel (in most cases) we'd do a lot better to keep our noses out of everyone else's business.

you want to go go tit for tat because even when you're willing to acknowledge wrongs perpetrated by the right....you always feel the compulsory need to paint the dems worse than repubs.....libs worse than conservatives.

fact is we've gotten involved too many times for the wrong reasons (greed , greed, and greed) in affairs best left alone under both parties.

(and ted, if you must.....knock yourself out to do a side by comparison to show how much better your side is!)

yeah, that's why conservatives are always ready to raise the minimum wage and applaud loudest whenever it's suggested! .....oh, wait......
