Hey Gang,

I have a tune that I wanna put a wide sweeping slow flange (like on Killer Queen/ Listen to the music etc.) on the vocals during a piece of a chorus (dont ask me why.. )...Its gonna sound great if I can get the right parameters... None of the presets is what I want nor can I edit them to get it.. Just wonderin if anyone knows how to get this effect in the software realm...I kinda have "sorta" what I want but the "phasing "is not heavy enough...Anyway, If anyone has Exp. with this FX, please enlighten me...

Thanks,
John

It all depends upon the software, of course. But if your software is maxed out, and it's not enough, then try this:
.
Output the vocal track WAV as an mp3, with full phasing.
Convert JUST the vocal track to mp3, be sure to mute everything else.
.
Now, back in the song, mute the original vocal WAV form which you just outputed as an mp3.
.
Next import this new MP3 vocal track which has the full phasing already recorded.
.
Cool, huh?
See, now you have a 'fresh track' to which you can apply any effects you want, all over again, - including a 2nd phasing.
You should be able to get some heavy effects this way, especially if the phasing effects are set up at a slightly different speed.
.
Enjoy.

I WISH I HAD 2 REAL REEL TO REELS HERE DAMMMMMMMMMMMMITTTTTT...Ive been at this all morning... I needs a nap....Good nite....

Hey Kidd,
When our boys were little, Cin and I bought them each a "Gor Helmet". They had a built in mike and amp with a flanger of sorts built right in. sounded like Darth Vader on steroids through our big old sound system! If I ever get into the attic, maybe one might still be in there. That might solve your problem. Then again it might get stuck on your head, so maybe it's not such a good idea.

Hey Howlin,

You know, that TOY is probably just what I need.. ..Yeah , sometimes in the studio its the SIMPLE things that work best..Man , the more I mess with this digital stuff, the more I want to go back to analog.. (for vocals anyway)Ive yet to get a good vocal preset on this contraption...WAY too many parameters, EQ, that have to be controlled..Its not wet and thick like it is on REEL TAPE.I like to be the engineer but NOT while Im tryin to be the musician...Too much down time EDITING...Yeah , if you find that toy, if ya dont mind and if ya can, sing something with harmony usin that thing and put it up on your page so I can hear it...

Thanks,
THE KIDD goin back to 1973 dammit
