well well well.....i think the thing here is that your a "player' dez....and not a writer...thats cool and the gang..ive friends who play a little and they never want to take it anywhere...they play for fun ...much like yourself...but if you ever want to play with the big boys and do it for a living your gona have to grow a very thick skin and a huge set of balls to match...ive had people tell me i cant sing and my music is sh*t... but ive had alot more tell me they love my stuff....so you can play it safe and dont post any music for whatever reason??...or like me put yourself out there..but be ready for the downside of reviews too..you cant have it everyway...this is not a game for the faint hearted or thin skinned...if you cant stand the heat...get out of the kitchen......

ok all, I put up 2 crappy-ish home recordings, just fake drums, bass, guitar, and some KB.

I'd love any feedback, even the negative kind, feel free to PM me any detailed feedback or post here, thanks again guys.

Nothing to be ashamed of. Sounds good.

I like the funky groove of "Strange Surf" and "Crazy" has some potential too. See? Was that really so painful? LOL

Now other players can get an idea of what you're about. What you posted is more than enough, for other artists to hear how they would fit into what you're doing.

You'll get more bites posting what you did, than not posting it.

But wow, I had to get all the way to the end of "Crazy" to see that you have some decent lead chops! Otherwise I would have said you are a good rhythm player and left it at that.

You got a handle on both. Good job bro!

wow thanks!

I know the leads were 'weak' in surf, but the song seemed to call for it. I tried doing tracks with shredding leads and they just never sounded right.

Kramerguy,
Wooaah! That realey sucked man! ( just kidding, always wanted to say that)
The levels are almost as bad as mine, but the music is excellent. What's the lineup? ( real players or synth, I can't tell anymore) I especially like the bass tone on Strange surf. Good Job!

lol thanks, not sure what you are asking on the 'real playersor synth'?

I used a boss DR-3 for drums on both tracks, did guitars, bass myself, and the crazy track has yamaha keyboards, various preset sounds (I got one with like 450+ patches). Believe it or not, the surf songs guitar and bass were done direct into a quadraverb and to the board.

I just purchased a gnx3000, was thinking of laying down all new lines for the guitars on both, but some gut feeling just says to leave em be and move on to new recordings.

Kramerguy,
I was curious if the drums were the boss , synthesizer, or live drummer. (I've been fooled before on this forum) . The excellence of your guitar playing I regard as a "given". The bass playing is what struck me as better then average for a "demo format" recording. Were you using a pick on the bass?
Yamaha synths most' always sound good. 8)

I must be scaring people off. Can't find a decent guitarist who'll stick with the band. I thought I was a really nice guy, maybe I'm not. Maybe we'll have to go without a guitarist, maybe get a banjo player or flute or trombone, apparently anything other than guitar. Later...

Bob, I've found a funny thing about that.
I'll look, and look and look, and after a while I'll say "Aww, screw it! I give up."
Then I stop looking for anyone.
Then, for some reason, they start appearing out of the wood work . . . after I stopped looking . . .
.
Ever gone through that?

Fellow band leaders,

I am without a doubt, the nicest guy in northeast Pennsylvania . ...BUT...
If you will recall, when our pal "Cript" was having a real life "Panic Attack" over his halfhearted fellow band buddies, who were wimping out just when the band was looking like it was going to do something, it was non other then good ol' "Uncle Howlin'", who advocated TAKEING ASSERTIVE ACTION! (rockin' hard can be serious, and sometimes nasty business) Somebody has to be the boss, an that's just the way it is. (that doesn't mean that the boss has to be a tyrant.) .....later....

Yeah I know what you're talking about. I'm in a band now, kind of. When I first started they needed a lead guitarist...so of course I said yeah I'll be your lead guitarist...and they all acted like they wanted to be in a band so bad, but they never want to practice! And I do! If you don't practice you won't go anywhere. Like the other day we were all going over to one of the band member's house, and I asked if he wanted us to bring our guitars or anything, and they didnt! That would have been a perfectly good time to practice, we were there for 3 and a half hours or more atleast...pure laziness... I'm actually starting another band lol...hopefully they're more commited to it then my current band mates lol :)

I thought the mastering was ok. I wasn't into the tonal qualities of your guitar. A different tone coloring would be more beneficial to what you are playing.
