Ted

I've been working with a young singer to put together some demos. She plans on moving to Nashville next month. I've noticed you and others are not in love with the place.

Any words of warning or advice for my friend?

thanks
Talbot

I hope your friend is less than 20 years old? Gnashvile represents the record companies, but other than that it's a great town.

The laws of Tennessee allow old school slavery in record company contracts that were outlawed in California and New York long ago. The Nashville sound is prevalent in country music and Christian music...but I'm not a fan of sounding like everyone else.

For most that isn't a problem. It is still the path of least resistance.

And there's a zillion other 20-somethings trying to make it big in Nashville, too. Fun place to vist, though!

Write a great hook, let us steal it from you! Nice contest!

I love the sound of projects that my favorite rock bands record in Trashville.
And I prefer country music from Texas and Bakersfield. Go figure.

I'm not sure "Pitfalls for a Young Woman" is a strong enough hook!

Now THERE'S a hook: "It's Not the Pitfalls, It's the Pratfalls" Gonna be a bitch to sing, though.

I'm seeing verses comprised of 2 3-line sections, so an AABCCB rhyme scheme...

It's not the pitfalls, it's the pratfalls
It's not my tophat, it's my overalls....

What is it about me, girl, you really dig?
