" the aryan nation hate group is entitled to their's."

And why not? Again an affiliation with the demoncrat party through its founder. :) (You need to select better examples)

Aryan Nation

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Metzge ... upremacist)

Thomas Linton "Tom" Metzger (born April 9, 1938) is an American white supremacist who founded White Aryan Resistance (WAR), which the Southern Poverty Law Center designated as a hate group. A neo-Nazi who was a Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1970s, Metzger has voiced strong opposition to immigration to the United States. In the early 1980s, he was registered with the Democratic Party and sought to be a Democratic candidate for the United States House of Representatives and Senate. He has been incarcerated in Los Angeles County, California, and in Toronto, Canada, and has been the subject of several lawsuits and government inquiries.

I've always heard growing up how JFK was one of our nations national heroess in the Civil Rights Movement. But doing independent research I'm finding out he not only voted against many of the Republican's civil right bills while he was a Senator, he and his family are recorded as saying very racist and uncaring things towards blacks and minorities their entire lives.

In his biography "John F. Kennedy: A Biography" Michael O'Brien shared this that is causing me to rethink everything I've been taught about the civil rights movement and the Democratic Party.

"By seeking assistance from African-American leaders, Kennedy followed a Massachusetts tradition. Rather than fight for civil rights legislation, Democrats in Massachusetts traditionally looked into a few influential individuals to deliver the black vote. "You never had to say you were going to do anything on civil rights," observed Robert Kennedy. "It was mostly just recognition of [Negroes]." By winning the support of black leaders, A Democratic candidate could capture the black vote quite easily." - O'Brien, M, "John F. Kennedy: A Biography", 2006, p. 365.

I remember reading about Martin Luther King, jr's writings detailing the same thing about Kennedy as a President: that he made good speeches about promoting civil liberties for blacks, but never actually did anything. The "Million Man March" on Washington that King was swept into was protesting Democrats specifically like Kennedy.

So I'm learning that it has been the opposite in real history of what I've been taught all through my public education and college history classes. That the Republicans are the major proponents of civil liberties for minorities and women, while the Democrats have always been the antagonists. But despite all of this, I'm curious if anyone has greater insight into why Kennedy specifically voted against Eisenhower's (Republican) CRA of 1957 as a Senator?

It's one thing to not honestly care about helping minorities and just pander for their vote, but another to actively vote against their civil liberty. I'm reading that Senator Lyndon Johnson was also instrumental in stopping the Republican's civil right bills from passing as well. I'm curious to find their motives and rationality of why they were so hostile towards blacks and minorities before pretending to switch and create the idea their party has always been the party for minorities as they presume to be today.

Maybe all you guys should simply take your TV sets out back and destroy them. You can use guns, baseball bats, C4 whatever.

Because it seems the left wing of the uni-party gets their propaganda from CNN and the right wing of the uni-party gets theirs from Fox. Let those TV idiots fight it out among themselves while they pretend to be different.

Been here a while now and have yet to see anyone change anyone else's mind. There is always "Grass before Breakfast" (not what you think, sigh - it's dueling!) which might be a bit extreme, but I think I'd go with junking the tube.

Since I don't have a TV I'm not always pissed off like you boys -try it. It's not fun to be angry all the time. Get rid of those damned things and spend that time doing something where you can actually make a difference - write a song - make a sandwich...fix a drink! 8)

And Vinny - you can get Walking Dead on your computer so all is good!

Yod -

Fairly good article about it here

http://www.nationalreview.com/article/3 ... williamson

LBJ didn't sign the civil rights act because he was in favor of it, he signed it for political expediency and to get the black vote firmly into the Democrats' hands. Before that he voted against every civil rights attempt that came his way, and made some racist comments that probably would have cost him the election had the general public known how he really felt. Johnson was always strongly against any civil rights attempts, he changed his position because it was becoming politically dangerous, and to get blacks to vote democrat.

It's also not generally known that he and the Kennedy brothers hated each other, and that Kennedy had already put together and enacted an executive order not long before he was killed that would have pulled 1000 troops out of Viet Nam by the end of 1963 (might have been 1964, I don't remember but I think 63) and all 17,000 out by the end of 1965. Johnson immediately reversed it. Kennedy had been having serious second thought about the advisability of the US being in Viet Nam, we had started with just a few troops in an advisory and training capacity, never intended to be anything more.

Find a copy of "The Dark Side of Camelot" and read it if you can find a copy, very interesting book about Kennedy's politics and personal life as president. I was unaware just what a serious womanizer he was, and that he almost let it seriously endanger national security more than once. For example he had the secret service deliver hookers to the White House on a daily basis any time Jackie was away, and the swimming pool was off limits when they were around. He made Bill Clinton look like a choirboy...

Kennedy never intended for Johnson to be his running mate, he had a list of 8 or 10 possibilities he and Bobby drew up, they made their decision and Johnson was nowhere on the list, just before a meeting they called of these people to name their choice and hand out key appointments as consolation prizes so they wouldn't create political enemies, Johnson barged in and demanded a meeting. (Don't turn against us and you'll be Secretary of State and so forth)

According to the book the meeting lasted about a half hour or so and when they walked out, Johnson was Kennedy's running mate and Kennedy was practically in tears. Nobody knows for sure, but the best guess is blackmail. Johnson knew a lot about Kennedy's womanizing and threatened to make it public is the implicated scenario. Johnson was the last person Kennedy would pick, Bobby was quoted as calling him an ogre. Johnson was also a tyrant, did things like demanding Kennedy's secretary vacate her office in something like 1 1/2 hours the day after the assassination, told Earl Warren he would lead the Warren commission, Warren wanted nothing to do with it. Complete asshole. According to the book, he told Warren on the phone "Goddammit I said you'll do it, you'll by damn do it." (might not be an exact quote, but very close I'll have to dig out the book again) Generally hated in the White House, Kennedy kept him on a short leash and made sure he had no power, if he had any Kennedy knew he would be running the White House in 2 weeks. Really interesting book, the guy did tons of research and interviews finding out loads of inside and personal information about Kennedy, his personal life and politics.

The article linked above also confirms a couple of the things in the book, but it was mostly about Kennedy, not Johnson.

Johnson and J Edgar Hoover were close, and its no secret that both he and Hoover hated Kennedy. Hoover would have been a good source for blackmail.

Everyone in the Democrat party (except for Bobby Kennedy) and many in the GOP were racist back then. A small percentage of Republicans were the only people that ever sincerely cared about the civil rights of black people going all the way back to the abolitionists and Lincoln.

That aside, Mark why do you think that Jewish people and black people are Democrat when it's so patronizing to them?

A Jew who votes for Obama is like a turkey voting for Thanksgiving. And with all the broken promises of utopia for black people that never materialized since LBJ, I seriously don't understand why they would fall for the next fraud....but they do every time.

I predict your answer will be something about racists on the right, because I know the propaganda. But I also know that the propoganda isn't true and just wonder how they get away with it for so long...?

Yod - I left Hoover out of it but not intentionally. He didn't like the Kennedys at all, and kept a lot of info on virtually everybody in DC that probably could have been obtained without a lot of trouble, especially if it could be used against someone he didn't like. Hoover was not exactly the epitome of morality...What LBJ probably didn't realize was he also had plenty on him as well.

The Kennedys were probably the only two Democrats at the time who were not racist, and they thought LBJ was a perfect example of everything they hated about Washington politics. I've always considered them just as corrupt as anyone else, but at least they did try to do the right thing most of the time. Bobby was attorney general and put several mafia bosses behind bars for a long time. Both were ready to get us out of Viet Nam, and they both had serious second thoughts about getting in there to begin with...they did make mistakes, but they tried to make things better. They faced a lot of opposition in the civil rights area, and I'm sure if he had lived, Kennedy would have signed the 64 civil rights bill because he wanted to, not because it was politically expedient.

The most interesting thing about Kennedy is how well he was liked, even by many members of the Republican party. He got a lot of respect from both sides when he faced Kruschev and we actually didn't end up in a nuclear war, and he took a lot of flak when he refused to send in air support for the Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba, but he did the right thing. Has said it was not US policy to interfere in another country's political squabbles, which was true, at least until then, and refused air support. That would amount to the US overthrowing another government, which he did not want to do. Hoover was livid...

I guess I need to dig out the book again, it's over 2 inches thick, a huge amount of info, but the list of references and interviews is pretty much a book of its own...and to the nay sayers, this book was extensively researched, and when you get a half dozen people interviewed all confirming the same thing, and in some cases from different political parties, it's not just propaganda. Yeah I know you have to throw that out, it's the only defense you have, but I'm not one to blindly believe whatever I see in print. Some of this was confirmed in other books, some in articles I've read online...I'm pretty intelligent and I actually do look through the references and sometimes go double check them. So you can say what you want, I don't really care, it's the same worn out argument you've been using constantly for the past 6 years I've been here. It ain't working. Never did. If I want propaganda, I'll go watch CNN.
