Quite true. I've written songs that took me over a year to be able to play. But song is what it is.

Several times I was just practicing - say - variations of "A," only to have someone ask me, "Hey, I like that; what's the name of that song?"

I'm there like, "Ummm huh? What song? That sounds like a song?"
Then I realize I'm at the point where I should write a chorus for that little practice-thing I'd been doing.

That is exactly how this particular song came about. The whole instrumental section was formed around some finger gymnastics. When I put the track down on my DAW I thought I should write some lyrics to fill it out a bit and I added the front and rear sections to the "instrumental". I believe that happens rather often to those who write.
