Israel TV: Iran will have enough uranium for a bomb in 2 months
Earlier Friday, Israeli newspaper quoted government security source saying Islamic Republic already has at least one nuke
By Times of Israel staff September 27, 2013, 10:18 pm

http://www.timesofisrael.com/israel-tv- ... -2-months/

Hours after an Israeli newspaper quoted a government security source saying that Iran already has at least one nuclear bomb, Israel’s leading Arab affairs analyst offered only a slightly less dramatic assessment, saying the regime in Tehran was no more than “one to two months away” from having sufficient 92% enriched uranium to build its first bomb.

Ehud Yaari, the veteran analyst of Israel’s top-rated Channel 2 TV News, added that Iran also had more sophisticated centrifuges becoming available soon that could cut that time down to just “two or three weeks.”

On the same program, military analyst Roni Daniel derided the possibility of the “weak” US President Barack Obama holding firm in the face of the charm offensive mounted by new Iranian President Hasan Rouhani during his first foray onto the global stage at the UN General Assembly this week. Israel retained the capability to thwart Iran’s attainment of nuclear weapons, Daniel said.

Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, speaking from the UN, said the world should not “melt” in the face of Rouhani’s new moderate rhetoric, and that it was vital that the international community not “forget” the imperative to stop Iran getting the bomb.

Iran’s foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, who held unprecedented talks Thursday with his US counterpart John Kerry, posted a Facebook message saying Israel was “isolated” in its hard line on Iran. Under orders from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who himself will speak at the General Assembly on Tuesday, the Israeli delegation boycotted Rouhani’s General Assembly speech last Tuesday — the only delegation to do so. Netanyahu has warned the world not to be “fooled” by Iran’s moderate rhetoric.

Rouhani has made plain this week that Iran seeks to have economic sanctions lifted. Yaari said Friday that Rouhani wants to freeze the nuclear program at a level that would enable it to break out to the bomb within weeks if it so chose.

Earlier Friday, the Maariv daily quoted government analysts saying that the Islamic Republic already possesses at least one bomb.

The paper’s Shalom Yerushalmi wrote that “government security sources up to date on development in Iran,” told him recently that Tehran has crossed all points of no return and already has its first nuclear weapon, and maybe more.

That report marked the first time a government official had been quoted saying Iran already has a nuclear weapon. No sources in the piece were named.

The information, if true, would mark a major shift in international relations and would be a game changer in terms of a regional power balance.

“It’s too late for Israel [to prevent an Iranian bomb]. Iran has crossed all the borders and all the constraints, and it has a first nuclear bomb in its possession, and maybe more than that,” Yerushalmi wrote, basing himself on what he says is the assessment he heard this week from state security sources. “We are facing a historic change in the strategic balance of forces in the region.”

He then quoted a source who he says is deeply familiar with what he calls the relentless war against the Iranians. “This is no longer about how to prevent a bomb,” the source was quoted saying, “but about how to prevent its being launched, and what to do if and when.”

Yerushalmi, still basing himself on the anonymous security sources’ assessment, went on to compare the current behavior of Iran’s Supreme leader Ali Khamenei, and Rouhani, in their interactions with the West, to a soccer coach at the end of a hard-fought match which he knows he has now won. The Iranian leadership is behaving with the air of “those who have achieved their target, and therefore can today afford to be more generous and to offer new (self-serving) messages.” The Iranian leadership can afford to be friendlier, he wrote, “because victory has been secured.”

Maariv led its Friday paper with a photograph of a smiling Rouhani, alongside the headline, “What’s hiding behind the smile,” and a sub-headline quoting the security sources saying Iran now has “at least one bomb.” It then added that most in the security establishment, however, still believes that this “nightmare scenario has not yet been realized.”

While most Western countries believe Iran’s nuclear program is intended for military purposes, officials in Israel, the US and elsewhere say Tehran has yet to “break out” toward a bomb, a process that could take over a year.

No delivery vehicle? Think ICBM. They've had those for a while now, and have been working with North Korea for at least a year, probably a lot longer, not to mention their space vehicles that can be converted to carry warheads.

Six months at most, and most of the experts think more like 2-3 months. Scary stuff, and the US is their primary target, after Israel of course. This is a regime that has never ever negotiated in good faith, never kept any treaties, their Islamic beliefs teach lying to their enemies, and they have facilities the inspectors have never been allowed to enter, and have always avoided compliance with all international agreements they have already agreed to. If you read the articles linked above, you'll find a satellite picture of a facility at Parchin designed to test the explosives designed to trigger a nuclear bomb.. Why would they have a place to test the triggers unless they have a bomb already to go with it?

Not even an ICBM is actually required, they could rig up something like a SCUD missile and park it off the coast well into international waters and drop a nuclear warhead anywhere in the US they want at any time. Put the thing in a fishing boat and nobody would know a thing until it's too late.

They are not worried about the fallout, they would be glad to die in the process of taking out their most hated enemy. Don't believe that? How many suicide bombers have hit embassies all over the world in the past 20 years? More than a dozen islamic jihadists did the same thing on 9-11. to them it's an honor.

Lets hope Israel gets some decent help, I'm not sure they can wipe out Iran's nuclear program by themselves. They have no choice but to try, Iran has sworn long ago to wipe Israel off the map and they will do it if they get the chance. Netanyahu knows that quite well, he's no fool. And I seriously doubt their main ally, the US, will help them as long as Obama is in the captain's seat. In view of the way he's treated Israel, he would probably be glad to see it happen.

They do have the delivery vehicle, they just have to convert it.

For one thing they have been testing a lot of EMP rockets that can be launched from small ships. They have a good many missiles already that can do the job I am sure. Why don't they do it? They need to get more than a handful of warheads. They know that if they use one or two they will be blasted and may not accomplish the world wide chaos that is their goal. However, if they send off a bunch of them all at once, aimed all over the world, they will have accomplished what they want.

On the other hand Germany may stop them before they get too far along. Germany also views them as a threat. And Israel may also go after them before the Arabs get the missile defense system that Russia wants to sell to them. A good many countries simply do not trust Iran with nukes. I'd bet there is a lot of talk going on behind closed doors.

In the "free world" only our great leader would trust a bunch of homicidal maniacs with machine guns at a Rose Bowel game. :)

Didn't know anything about Germany's involvement or attitude on this, haven't heard much. Israel of course, Netanyahu has made it very clear what he thinks...I hope you're right, Israel will need help. I'm pretty sure they can do a lot of damage but I don't know if they can stop Iran alone...

As far as the missiles Russia is trying to sell them, those are said to be defensive, but I wouldn't count on them being used for entirely defensive purposes...

ICBMs can be bought from Russia or China, though it would be a mistake to think that they work! LOL

This treaty has a snowballs chance in hell of being ratified by Congress, but now we find out that Obama wants to give Iran a 50 BILLION dollar signing bonus.

And apparently our ships in the Gulf of Oman are there to ESCORT Iranian weapons to the Houthis in Yemen, not to blockade them.

ICBM missiles are a LOT different than short-range systems which typically have a range of less than 150 miles. Iran won't have that technology for at least ten years, if ever. All that other stuff is just fantasy.

Wrong. Iran has had ICBM's for at least 2-3 years.

Lopez said the Iranians were conducting research and development on nuclear warheads at Lavizan, the existence of which was revealed by the NCRI in 2002.

“Once it was exposed, the Iranians razed it to the ground. Leveled all the buildings, every tree, bush, and blade of grass and carted it off to I-don’t-I-know-where, and then they turned the place into a city park with picnic benches and tennis courts. This is how they act.”

Lopez said the key threshold for the Iranians is perfecting a delivery system for a warhead.

“I don’t know if they’ve married it to a missile. Until it’s on top of a missile it’s not deliverable, at least, in the usual way.”

She described Iran’s missiles as an enormous problem the West is ignoring at its own peril.

“Iran’s ICBMs are not even on the table for discussion. They are explicitly excluded from these talks.”

Furthermore, “The Pentagon has open-source reporting available now for at least two-to-three years that Iran’s ICBMs would be able to reach the continental U.S. this year, 2015. It has the range to hit the US, I don’t know about accuracy. They’ve got solid rocket-propellant fuel, all the things that help a missile increase its range.”

So, it all boils down to whether they can marry the warhead to the rocket?

“Yes.”

*************************************

All they have to do is figure out how to put it on a rocket, serious evidence exists that they already have nuclear capability. Read the article. It does include references to many of the claims made.

"This treaty has a snowballs chance in hell of being ratified by Congress, but now we find out that Obama wants to give Iran a 50 BILLION dollar signing bonus."

I don't believe that is exactly how this deal works. Our side, the repukicans, (Who also work full time for the demoncrats) made a sucker deal if I read this right. They could have voted with a lot less opposition but they gave away the ball game again, if I understand this article right. As I understand this the bill gets written and passed if it does not get enough votes to veto it. Getting a vote to pass is would have been far more difficult.

That leads me to think that while they were shaking their fists at one another (in front of the TV cameras on Sunday) the hands that we couldn't see were passing money and favors back and forth under the bargaining table, as usual. But hasn't every stinking deal from day one been the pretend fight which the repukicans generally always cave after a truly great battle on Sunday morning talk shows, where they state all the reasons they can't oppose it?

Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, hailed the “true emergence” of bipartisanship on the Iran measure. (Andrew Harnik/For The Washington Post)
By Karen DeYoung and Mike DeBonis April 14 Follow @karendeyoung1 Follow @mikedebonis

A Senate committee voted unanimously Tuesday to give Congress the power to review a potential Iran nuclear deal after a June 30 negotiating deadline, in a compromise with the White House that allows President Obama to avoid possible legislative disapproval of the pact before it can be completed.

The bipartisan bill is likely to move quickly to the full Senate after the Foreign Relations Committee voted 19 to 0 to approve the measure. It would give Congress at least 30 days to consider an agreement after it was signed, before Obama could waive or suspend any congressionally mandated sanctions against Iran.

During that period, lawmakers could vote their disapproval of the agreement. Any such resolution would have to clear a relatively high bar to become law, requiring 60 votes to pass and 67, or two-thirds of the Senate, to override a presidential veto.

The compromise avoided a potentially destructive showdown between the White House and Congress, as well as a possible free-for-all of congressional action that Obama has said could derail the negotiations while they are underway. It followed extensive administration lobbying on Capitol Hill, including phone calls from Obama and a closed-door Senate meeting Tuesday morning with Secretary of State John F. Kerry and other senior officials.

While the administration was “not particularly thrilled” by the final result, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said before the vote, it was “the kind of compromise that the president would be willing to sign.”

One thing you can bet on, once the Iranians do have one they will use it against Israel and the U.S. most likely the U.S. first as they know we are expecting Israel to get hit first. Additionally we are an easier target since they already have sleepers in the U.S. and fighters training 8 miles south of the U.S. border. They most likely won't use any kind of missile to deliver it. It will be at that point the world wakes up to the horrible foreign policy of this administration!
