My friend told of a conversation he had with a guy and a girl he met at a coffee shop. They told him they thought it was all falling apart. Like him - I just don't seem to talk to anybody anymore who doesn't think we're on the highway to hell.

Like him - I wish somebody would just say , "No, things are fine!" But only politicians say that sort of silly sh*t.

When I became a Christian I was still pretty young and yes, dumb. i read revelation and thought, "Cool - I can rescue some Nuns and get some points." Damn it was fun to be young. But ultimately it's not about points. And I don't think it is going to be much fun...

There are people that I know that have gone so far as to buy plywood for their windows so that when the scavengers begin going house to house breaking in looking for food he can have his windows already boarded up at the first hint of trouble. And he is not the only making such preparations. Some have even spoken of building "safe houses" in their basements with an opening like the old army forts had when the Indians attacked. It seems as if every person I know who has a weapon is hording ammo and guns.

I have been thinking about the plywood a lot. It's a great thing to be prepared. Now that easy to make "safe house" isn't a bad idea either. Easy to build a couple of big brick walls and join them to a corner to make a nice little room. Lots of paranoid folks in this neck of the woods.

The problem is that when folks are starving they get a keen sense for smelling food cooking.

Avoiding religious interpretation and interdiction, I would have to say history has proved the brutality of mankind against mankind. America did it with the indigenous people. The Vikings did it with the Scotts. Rome did it with the Germans. This history goes on and on. One of the funniest is Ghengis Khan realizing Afghanistan was a useless piece of real estate.

Now it may be against the Torah for Israel to exist. I am not a scholar on this. I will respectfully bow out of this discussion...
I will say that if a nation such as Cuba was launching attack after attack against America, I would be asking our government to do something at the highest level of severity.

Hey Eberton, If Jesus was a true Republican he would have backed the rule of law. Most likely the rule of law handed down by his father. Some of which would include silly things like Thou shalt not kill, or worshiping mammon over God...

Sounds to me that you have a leaning to sharia law, when you poke fun at the Christian / Judeo laws of America.

I think you need to expand your vision before you throw yourself out of the frying pan.

by the way - here in America - where we live under supposed constitutional republic - who gave anyone the right to tell New Yorkers they can't have a standard mag for their rifles? how could something as unconstitutional as the Sullivan act ever be passed? My point - we are ruled by scofflaws who should have jailed or hung the first time they conspired against our laws. now it's too late.

As to prepping - In the south, we will survive. i won't - but so what. Each of us must do what we can to help others - and that's just what I'll do. I don't even consider that a negative thing - to me it's an honor to die fighting while defending my neighbors.

No problem with that whatsoever. The Lord asked me this over 40 years ago. He said "when you died to yourself in baptism did you truly die to yourself and begin living for me?" I said "Yes Lord I did mean it. When I was baptized I died to myself, when I emerged from the water I no longer lived for myself and I began living for you.
He asked me that several times and I gave the same answer. Then he said "You physical life also?" That set me back more than I could express since I knew what he was asking in my spirit. He was asking me if I truly counted the cost of following Him. So when I pray about that I pray, please do not let anything happen to me until the set times. I am relatively sure where I am going and have been for many years.

On the serious side... The Hammurabi Code is one is one of the most disgusting, vile , documents of mans inhumanity ever written. Of course it would come out of the same Babylonian region that had laws morph into modern sharia law.

Just read the code. Totally against all sensible humanity, and totally without God.

Why this is in our federal center of law is an interesting question... Is it to show failure and vulgarity of law gone wrong... Or is it a window into the future of lawmakers wishing to dispose of the basic laws of God, that built this country.
