Talbot, I agree totally. 100%. Do you happen to have any recordings of James Hetman playing some Waylon?

Yuck! I'm having a hard time listening to anything that Metallica has done since '90, but I draw the line at that.

I used to play on the Sun Set Strip back in the 1980's, dealt with great people like Michael Fell and Gina Zamparelli. The scene was great, competition was tough, great music and musicians. What killed L.A. was the " Pay to play" B.S.
Next thing you know, it was the same old bands, doing the same ole B.S. .... Nepotism became king.

I'm trying to get a band going here in Kansas that isn't Thrashy, Deathcore garbage.

Found a vocalist and maybe a rhythm guitar. Still looking for a bass guitar.

Trying to figure out how to get a decent quality recording on a very low budget so I can upload a song to my profile here.

The same was also true of rock as well. And the coining of rock being "the devil's music". I would say without being so tunnel vision that genres of music appeal to different people. It is not entirely based on age as one might suggest. You will find young and old in every genre if you go that route. From musicians to fans. As far as replacements on here I would not have sufficient knowledge to determine this on this website. However on a whole you might wish to reconsider your words. Rockers tend to be whiners and complainers and want everything their way, lest we forget people like Axl Rose and all the other spoiled brats of rock. Metal has yet to have a diva like Axl Rose, at least not that I know of. And from me that's a lot given I never stop listening to music. And in all this inner fighting and drama, rock has really got a name for itself as drama queens. Its very rare if at all you'd see a metal band like this. And I'd venture to say this leads to a lot of breakups itself (IE with rock bands over metal bands). But hey music is music as long as they can all stick together to make some good albums, before they tumble into flames eh?

There is a type of djent progressive metal that extremely tecnical players are doing these days for game sound tracks and cinema soundtracks..they dont really need or the club venues. They make theirselves known by soundtracks and youtube. Then will tour.Personally, it is my favorite to play, but not allll the time...bottom line, its epic, melodic and bone breaking. Pomegrante tiger and mandroid echostar playthroughs are really good.

Cap'n Scott .. U still here.. ? can't believe how your attitude has seemed to have changed lol ..
Anyways .. I play metal .. but, yeh the metal guitarists these days suck ass .. they just strum .. or bang .. or if they're good, "shread" .. I don't know how there are so many excellent shredders out there all of the sudden .. pisses me off :)
.. but anyway .. yeah, the soul is gone from metal .. there's "industrial metal, "pop metal" and 60,000 other kinds of metal .. sheezz .. where's the real metal? .. The stuff that gets in your grawn .. the churning fanatical stuff like Trapeze and Megadeth .. I miss it ..

Mr. X

Dang man - haven't you heard Megadeth do Stone Cold Sweat? There is always good sh*t happening. Bands age - try other things - then they either head back into the creativity zone or hit the oldies tours.

Musicians - blessed in my opinion but sometimes it sure don't feel like it. 8)

well, actually, there a few 'modern metal" bands that you could definitely guess as soon as you here the composition. for example Pierce The Veil they have a unique sound, given theyre not very heavy however, could fit into the genre. but another would be Born of Osiris who are a pretty damn technical and have a great progrssive electronic unique type sound to them. but i will agree that the consistent chugging and same scales being used by many bands is very annoying. but the bands that have made it, either mastered that sound or have their own unique twist on the genre and ideas of metal. like myself, i envision, a funk/metall/progressive/electronic sound for my project. which is going to be killer. personally i love the screaming vocals and the passion they portray, and the heavy riffs and super bassy breakdowns that make you bob your head uncontrollably, while feeling godly. haha it's all about attitude honestly, and metal as a whole has a sh*t ton of attitude baby. rock on! im only 19 btw gots a lot of timeeeee to do things so someone should def hit me up to work on some music.

If the sounds emanating from behind the doors at my former rental studio are any indicator, Cookie Monster Metal is alive and well!
