Drummer Requirements … Musically must firstly be able to do a simple sustained and constant military roll on the snare. Must be able to tune his own kit. Must understand his role within the Band … he or she is the heartbeat and timekeeper. Have a decent kit with at least a few special drum mics … larger than a Trap Set but must be able to play a Trap Set as well. No need for double bass unless it is personal preference . Play by Ear is perfectly acceptable and in many ways preferred. Must be drug and smoke free and in shape, healthy with a penchant for precision … rim shots and snare work. Understand that an affinity with the Bassist is of primary importance. Be rock not Jazz oriented. MiddleEastern acquaintance is favorable.

Please have cases for your drums, spare sticks, heads and sound racks and stands. Be able to compose your drum parts, remember them and count. Have a sense of dynamics and be able to time change, retard and hit not so much with the force of a caveman but more like a 5 Step Death Punch.

Vamp

Conceptually I'm not that far from you - I sent you an email through bandmix - I'm happy to send you a copy of my 'treatment' for the project but it's too long to post here.

Hazel - was strange because I'd just re-watched the songs from 'Breaking Glass.'

If I was personally going to do a cover (and I never rule it out) I think at this point it would be "A Girl Called Johnny" by Waterboy. Maybe it's the sax or the energy but it talks to me.

The good news by the way, is that I got some pro advice and restructured my recording environment, and found a kid to do some drum tracks.

cheers
Talbot

Bassist Requirements …

Musically must be able to "play by ear" and have an excellent sense of timing and rhythm , know his frets, have at least two guitars and a decent rig, play with plectrum and fingers both, construct Bass Lines, play in total darkness, understand and compliment the Bass - Drum Relationship and be able to tune only from a tuning fork. Have a memory, be drug and smoke free and in shape, healthy with the ability to "lead and Solo" on Bass. Be rock not jazz oriented. Ability to play fretless would be good.

Please have guitar cases, spare string sets and amp and speaker covers or drapes. Be able to time change, retard and play sparse, wail and be musically aware of melody lines and their reinforcement.

vamp, were it not for the pesky geography i'd be up for getting together to see what's to see. not sure what if any kind of fit you and i would have...but i am very much a musical adventurer and love to go "exploring" w those of a like mind.
and as you had intoned recently....i too suspect there's more common ground than not between us (geography excluded). if nothing else, it would be most satisfying knocking back an adult beverage or two with you.

best of luck with this project. as all real artists and musicians know, it is hard enough finding folks with the goods.....both "talent wise"...and possesing the requisite people skills that would make you want to be around them for more than five minutes.

happy hunting. keep us posted.

Planet Guy ... I thank you very much for your Post. That pesky geography. I appreciate however what you have said and perhaps one day we may in fact meet. Life can be strange, odd and unpredictable. I thank you for you well wishes and reciprocate. Enjoy yourself ... and your Wife of course. A joke.

Before the commercial New Year is up ....I take this opportunity to wish you all the very best in your lives for this coming year 2015. By all accounts it will put to shame the previous years with political filth "activities" and even more murder and poisonous contaminations. Monsanto, USA Inc., UN Inc., Unions, Treaties and the like. The New World Order is on the move and virtually everything is now in place to "create" The CharnePlanet. I obviously could go on but I shall not as a gesture of goodwill and kindness to you all. Understand that I do Truly wish you all the best regardless of beliefs, arguments etc.

It seems that more are waking up, reawakening, or even questioning ... that is positive. In light of the remaining time it is very encouraging. But still very very few have actually reached the stage where they wish to become "proactive" in their music, lives and Paths. This time will come for even more of a select few and these are who I seek. Soon when "losses" begin and on a personal level then there will be some who will rise to the occasion. But look at Japan ... demonstrations are simply not enough and continueing with the same political filth and corporate evil and expecting some new, different and good result rivals Einsteins definition of insanity.

But we all have our dreams do we not ...a resurgence of Old Traditional Values and those with such Codes taking the heads of those who are Evil, corrupted and Souless. Music is a great force in this world and it can be used to effect great social changes for the better.

Be safe, well, happy and on your Path.
