so, the mrs and i are heading to cleveland tomorrow for an intimate house concert on saturday that will feature the gypsy swing group Harmonius Wail and The Matt Flinner Trio. both groups feature world class mandolinists.

concert is being put on by Mechanic Street House Concerts http://www.mechanicstreetmusic.com/p/upcoming.html

earlier before the show they'll be doing 4 hrs of mando workshops that i'll be attending. really looking forward to it. the 10 hr drive each way...not so much so.

Why do you say that?

I've only been once but I liked the Janis Joplin display they had. Though she is from my hometown area, I found out more about her on that day that I had known.

Have a great time in Cleveland. They do love live music there.

They should call it "The Tourist Destination That We Came Up With For This Boring City". I agree. The nominees seem to be picked by The Onion.

[quote="TheFarleys"]We used to call Cleveland the mistake by the lake. quote]

Your right Jimmy, everyone would call Cleveland that. Hell it was easy for everyone to "jump on the bandwagon" and insult the town. Cleveland is well known for "Breaking" many bands to National attention. Rush,David Bowie, John "Cougar" and many (local) nationally successful bands, Devo,The Raspberries,The Baskerville Hounds,Robert Lockwood Jr.
Robert Plant has even said that if you dont make it in Cleveland, you never will. That they know talent.
I myself think the R-N-R Hall Of Fame is a joke. I cant believe some of the acts that have been inducted when others have been left out. Those that truely "Know" their music history know the impact that Cleveland has had on the Rock and Roll world
