Dane. Here is a mastered version of "I Only Miss You When it Rains" Although the instrumental isn't all alternate bass finger pickin it was still all finger picked. A lot of finger pickin licks are in the instrumental middle section of the song. You can find it here. :)

Been listening to your playlist. Very impressive. I can listen to this stuff. A lot. Sorry we were such jackasses in the "heavy metal country" thread. I understand now where you're coming from.

I have been practicing this technique of playing my own bass lines along with chords (adding leads is going to take a lot more practice!)

I was inspired to try developing that style after watching a Mexican dude playing in the acoustic room at guitar center. He was playing polka stuff that sounded like an entire mariachi band. He had bass lines walking up and down the fretboard, punchy chords and a couple of melodies on lead, all at the same time! I was floored. He saw me watching and tried to apologize, but we didn't speak each other's language. I just motioned for him to continue playing. It was amazing.

I've been bouncing things back and forth, between finger picking on the nylon string, to using a pick on electric. I find that with my most heavy distorted sound, I can use my wah pedal to really make the bass notes stand out. Thanks for posting.

thanks Slacker for the heads up, BM really should have retired the SLACKER user ID since it would be near impossible for any musician/guitarist to fill those shoes.. we should have had a Slacker retirement ceremony when you voluntarily left the forum, now, we should have a ceremony honoring the new return of your prescence.. it reminds me of a parable in the bible about the lost son and his return.. 8)

it was from my heart, I also wish HALEY and some of the others would come back too.. I get more joy out of reading others thoughts and daily activities then posting myself, but posting a little breaks up the tedium.. I spend most of the day making income by typing on a keyboard and pretending to be a shipping clerk, and this board is helpful to me on many levels.. LOL..

Schmedidiah,

Since you like the walking bass line, here are a couple of songs in that format. I have an old Goya gut string but I tend to prefer the low action and tone of my Strats. When the EPA shuts down all those power plants I will probably be using my Goya more.

Here are a couple of Guitar Videos They aren't that difficult but the finger positioning is clear. I centered the camera on the neck.

Dane,

I can find the ARRL club here and ask if anyone has one for sale if you wish. But you know hams.... they have a junk box full of crap they don't want.... but when someone is interested in it all of a sudden it is worth a fortune.

Haley got his panties in a wad at some point, but never could figure out why. Others just got tired of the constant mudsligning and pointless arguments wiht little music-related stuff discussed.

Dane, if you are still lurking near the monitor I posted this one for you since you were disappointed that I wasn't doing enough finger picking.

This song dates way back in time being passed down through the years with various verses. Black workers in the post-Civil War South sang versions of it while they worked the coal mines. Since then a good many musicians have recorded various versions of it sometimes adding their own verses to personalizing it for themselves.

I thought I would play it as a guitar lick road map of sorts so I didn't forget what I wanted to do with it when I recorded it on video, but my processor was acting up and it has a bit of splatter in it. Regardless it has some fair ideas in it for those who may wish to use them so I "cleaned" it up a bit.
As usual, for me, it's all about the guitar. I'm still working out how I want to present the vocal at this time.

What no link???? Yeah. I don't care if anyone listens to it or not. :) Dane knows where to look. :)

it's on my bucket list, but doubt if it will ever happen, and that would be to take some guitar lessons off of you, or better yet, just jam at a biker rally in South Dakota on a cool 75 deg. Spring day with thousands admiring your guitar prowess..watching Iggy Azalea, etc. on the American Music Awards I kept thinking, why isn't Slacker being honored musically in some way in front of the masses? I wish Iggy all the respect I can muster, but she has done her thing so short of time and to now be famous and prolly wealthy it makes me think how the world is so unfair..

Slacker, with all due respect, I can only listen to 34 seconds of it? I wish you could put it up in it's entirety on BandMix, you can set your settings to not allow downloads.. I would buy it off you but I don't believe in digital music unless I am paying a subscription to Rhapsody in which I do, but I lost tons of money with digital downloads and the DRM thing, all have converted over to mp3 because of that I think, but I will never pay for a digital download again, I will pay you for a CD however, but you will have to mail it to me.. I owe Mark , but plan on paying Mark back with a CD .. when I get my studio done
