Welcome back, fishermanbob.

Good Luck with the CD.

I'm pretty new here, so you don't know me, but I've read a lot of old posts.

~~Skitsomunkey~~

P.S. Is there a way to make it so I never have to see 90 dB's posts ever again?

I'm new here too, but I think you can go to a member's forum profile and click on the bug.
I haven't done this, myself. It's called an "ignore list" on other forums.

"Welcome back? You've been here since June, and you're on the welcoming committee?

Should I call you "Skitso" or "Munkey"?

Whatever. Try the "ignore" function.

Or, you could just exercise some self control and just ignore me. I will return the favor.

I only get to check in periodically, so I missed all the drama of the last exodus. Now this place has turned into any other discussion group and it's a pity. The reason it fell apart is a basic lack of disrespect for others, and people who badgered, humiliated, ridiculed, and slandered anyone who had a disagreement.

America began as a nation where people were free to disagree and no one had the right to be offended. That's what this (english) discussion board used to be. A free for all where you could dish it out, but you also had to take it. Now there are moderators and rules implemented because of the poor manners of a few that could't control their anger.

I enjoy a discussion where there is strong disagreement. I prefer talking to people who disagree with me than talking to the amen corner.....but I don't like bullies.

Can you (90db) explain why you're hammering everyone on the discussion board lately? All I can see are people who don't want to talk to you. Is it possible that you could treat others with a little more respect?

“......but I don't like bullies.”

Actually, I don't like bullies either; or pedants. Looking for a 'bully'? Here's one:

“Tells me they have NO pictures of them actually playing/performing, confirming their lack of experience.”

Clifford you use your 'legal blindness' as a crutch AND an excuse. Plenty of people out there with one or another handicaps who don't let them get in the way of what they want to do. And plenty who do like you do, and end up alone in their house/apartment feeling sorry for themselves.”

“If you are advertising for musicians, and get responses, to which you answer 'let's be friends', 'let's hang out', that is not what they wanted. Musicians get together to play and see if there is a musical connection that way. Friendships may or may not develop from that.
You won't make ANY friends hanging out in your bedroom waiting for people to come to you. Find something/somewhere you can go to meet others. Stop making excuses.”

“Well he asked, I answered, politely, but he probably didn't like what I had to say.”

“Well, see that's why this place won't work for you - the musicians who start profiles here are serious about their music and want to play to gig, jam seriously, etc. Not to 'be friends'.”

Great sound, the one thing that doesn't appeal to me is the dance-drum machine beat. I listened to the first 3 songs on your soundcloud site and they all had the same beat.

“Can you (90db) explain why you're hammering everyone on the discussion board lately? All I can see are people who don't want to talk to you. Is it possible that you could treat others with a little more respect?”

Actually, I don't have to 'explain' myself to you or anyone else. Are you running for Hall Monitor now?

I do not respect people who treat others with disrespect.

A lot of people are gone who weren't as arrogant or belligerent as what I see from your recent posts.

So, you don't care to address the arrogance and belligerence in the quotes above (and there are many more), but would rather label me with those epithets? Fine. I think I'll live.

“Arrogant”? “Belligerent?”

How about this?

“but don't act like you found a woman who would willingly have sex with such a bitter loser.

And your threats of physical violence can't hide the fact you have nothing intelligent to offer any conversation that goes on around here. It only proves that your ignorance hides behind vulgarity.

So I'll go back to doing more in a day than you will in a lifetime....and you can get back to your hand”

Pretty arrogant, eh Ted? Maybe just a little belligerent as well, no?

Hypocrite.

Those posts of mine were directed at an arrogant bully who was trying to intimidate me with threats of violence. I'm not proud of saying that, but I will push back when it's a bully and every attempt to be civil is spurned. I certainly don't expect anyone around here to be a pin-cushion, but I haven't seen the same kind of threats directed at you.

In the previous post there were some sentences that had no context, so I don't know what you're trying to say when you posted that. You're saying that you have been treated badly? I don't see that you are getting nearly as much as you are dishing out. Admittedly I don't keep up with the boards as much lately, but I do see you acting superior because you currently have a gig. That kind of stuff always changes....

Look man, I don't expect that you'd start wearing pink slippers and turn into Barney-the-Dinosaur nice. I like strong opinions and understand that a-holes deserve whatever they get in return, but you seem to be alpha dog lately and it appears that everyone is dreading your response in every topic.

Would you try to be the bigger person so we can all move on from the acrimony?

“Those posts of mine were directed at an arrogant bully who was trying to intimidate me with threats of violence.”

So you're a grown man, and your whining about a 'bully'? Sheesh.

“I certainly don't expect anyone around here to be a pin-cushion, but I haven't seen the same kind of threats directed at you.”

You obviously never read some of the exchanges I've had with the Captain.

How about these?

“Don't worry, I'll save ya a seat in a 50 gallon drum with a plastic lid.
You have to get out yourself though, down river.. lol “

“And if you talked to me in person like that, I'd remove your teeth, dentures and maybe the rod in your leg for fun. (I can make you a key chain)
I can guarantee that you would experience firsthand the joys of physical rehabilitation.”

“You can talk all the sh*t you want, but do not complain when you get the sh*t beat out of you by someone that can reach your moth ball smelling ass.”

“It goes without saying that if you want to vacation up here, I'll put you up in my home just so I can kick the sh*t out of you. After, I'll even take you to the hospital.”

Get my point?

“In the previous post there were some sentences that had no context, so I don't know what you're trying to say when you posted that.”

Those were quotes from a former “moderator”, who constantly derides, condescends to, and patronizes newcomers to the forum. I just got tired of reading that tripe.

“You're saying that you have been treated badly? I don't see that you are getting nearly as much as you are dishing out. Admittedly I don't keep up with the boards as much lately, but I do see you acting superior because you currently have a gig. That kind of stuff always changes....”

I'm not 'superior' to anyone. I'm just a working musician, and I have a low tolerance for posers who constantly label other people as “wannabees”: Witness:

“Well, see that's why this place won't work for you- the musicians who start profiles here are serious about their music and want to play to gig, jam seriously, etc. Not to 'be friends'.”

“Would you try to be the bigger person so we can all move on from the acrimony?”

I don't harbor any acrimony. I do, however, reserve the right to express my distaste for internet posers.

Contextomy refers to the selective excerpting of words from their original linguistic context in a way that distorts the source’s intended meaning, a practice commonly referred to as "quoting out of context". The problem here is not the removal of a quote from its original context (as all quotes are) per se, but to the quoter's decision to exclude from the excerpt certain nearby phrases or sentences (which become "context" by virtue of the exclusion) that serve to clarify the intentions behind the selected words. Comparing this practice to surgical excision, journalist Milton Mayer coined the term "contextomy" to describe its use by Julius Streicher, editor of the infamous Nazi broadsheet Der Stürmer in Weimar-era Germany. To arouse anti-semitic sentiments among the weekly’s working class Christian readership, Streicher regularly published truncated quotations from Talmudic texts that, in their shortened form, appear to advocate greed, slavery, and ritualistic murder.[3] Although rarely employed to this malicious extreme, contextomy is a common method of misrepresentation in contemporary mass media, and studies have demonstrated that the effects of this misrepresentation can linger even after the audience is exposed to the original, in context, quote

Weasels /ˈwiːzəl/ are mammals forming the genus Mustela of the Mustelidae family. The genus includes the weasels, European polecats, stoats, ferrets and European minks. They are small, active predators, long and slender with short legs. The Mustelidae family (which also includes badgers, otters and wolverines) is often referred to as the weasel family. In the UK, the term "weasel" usually refers to the smallest species Mustela nivalis (also known as the least weasel).[1]

I would encourage readers to search your posts for contextual reference, which will remove all doubt.

Playing the Nazi card? That's hilarious Nancy!

yea, I didn't see those. Context or not, threats of violence are internet bullying and deserve to be smacked down. Sounds like the same person I was dealing with. And, over the last few years, I have noticed how newbies are piled on around here.

Yet I asked a few legitimate questions and your responses have been unnecessarily caustic. Maybe it would help if you didn't assume everyone is an enemy? Then again, maybe they are now.

Whatever. Peace.

Actually, you asked me to 'explain' myself, as if I were a recalcitrant child under your authority. I am neither.

“Can you (90db) explain why you're hammering everyone on the discussion board lately?”

Who appointed you the etiquette monitor? I didn't get that memo.

I found your comments to me unnecessarily caustic, considering your self-righteous persona.

“...but I don't like bullies...”

“...as arrogant or belligerent as what I see from your recent posts.”

“...didn't assume everyone is an enemy? Then again, maybe they are now.”

That last is a corker. Is that an observation or a wish? Either way, it is a bit out of character for one who projects such a pious image.
