Carry on.
That ain't what I said. I said those performers HAVE money from their touring and sales , so they CAN do charity work like that. The guy who's playing in 3 bands, giving music lessons and more to pay the rent and put food on the table doesn't have much time to devote to charity events.
Mike Talbot - notice I'm not arguing with 90db. I think he's a Glenny clone, just here to spew his vitriol in a vain attempt to get me to leave. Just like Glenny. Ask Glenny how that worked for him. It wasn't my posts that drove people away, it was the constant fighting and insulting and trolling. I'm still in touch with a few of the guys who no longer come here - and that's why they don't come here. Some DO check here every once in a while, and what do they see? More of the same.
My original response to the OP was questions to get more details on what she was trying to do, With details, it's more easy to help. Telling someone to 'talk to people at venues' is not exactly an original idea!
It doesn't matter if you are full-time, part-time, amateur or pro, this site is open to any musicians, but those with 'holier-than-thou' attitudes are not doing the music community any favors.
