Cajundaddy wrote:Nope, sorry Mike but you still don't get it. Charity and giving back to the community have nothing to do with how much money you make.

Carry on. :)

That ain't what I said. I said those performers HAVE money from their touring and sales , so they CAN do charity work like that. The guy who's playing in 3 bands, giving music lessons and more to pay the rent and put food on the table doesn't have much time to devote to charity events.

Mike Talbot - notice I'm not arguing with 90db. I think he's a Glenny clone, just here to spew his vitriol in a vain attempt to get me to leave. Just like Glenny. Ask Glenny how that worked for him. It wasn't my posts that drove people away, it was the constant fighting and insulting and trolling. I'm still in touch with a few of the guys who no longer come here - and that's why they don't come here. Some DO check here every once in a while, and what do they see? More of the same.

My original response to the OP was questions to get more details on what she was trying to do, With details, it's more easy to help. Telling someone to 'talk to people at venues' is not exactly an original idea!

It doesn't matter if you are full-time, part-time, amateur or pro, this site is open to any musicians, but those with 'holier-than-thou' attitudes are not doing the music community any favors.

“Mike Talbot - notice I'm not arguing with 90db. I think he's a Glenny clone, just here to spew his vitriol in a vain attempt to get me to leave.”

Callin' in some backup, Nancy?

Why on earth would I “attempt” to get you to leave? You're the most amusing guy here. I especially love your open mic videos. Great stuff.

“Just like Glenny. Ask Glenny how that worked for him.”

So, you succeeded in getting Glenn banned with your whining little knickers in a knot. And now you're threatening me with that? Pathetic.

“It doesn't matter if you are full-time, part-time, amateur or pro, this site is open to any musicians...”

And we're all very grateful to be allowed on your site, Heather!

“...those with 'holier-than-thou' attitudes are not doing the music community any favors”

What 'music community' Mary Margaret? You mean the working pros you and your girlfriend drove off with your bitching?

If you actually knew any real musicians, you would know that we are a cynical bunch of renegades who revel in the verbal battle of opinions. Not whining about 'holier-than-thou' “attitudes”.

With all due respect, of course.

You can call me whatever you like, I won't take the bait. I happen to like Mike B. He has opinions. He offers them. He's polite. Then everyone pounces. I think it says more about you, than him. Can't we all agree on who the real enemy is? Rhymes with Ron-wrong-rear-o? :P

Original poster, you still here?

If the folks I know ever end up in an old folks home they are going to want to hear some
metal! 8)

Seriously, my church has a mission with the assist. living place next door. Pastor holds services for them, kids visit and choir sings at Christmas.

It's funny. Every time I see one of our many mobile home parks, I think of my generation trying to live like that.
All covered in saggy tats and being big babies about everything. I predict a homicide rate of about 50%, so the nursing homes won't be quite as full. But whoever ends up in the nursing home will no doubt have the worst taste in music ever seen or heard. At least, until the next generation moves in. The people born with internet and American Idol. They will be the death of music.

Very much like Glenny indeed!!

But, more professional!

In fact, in every discussion he has participated in , has has taken the trouble to tell us how very professional he is!

... after all, singing karaoke and playing easy-listening country music to pre-recorded tracks for drunken geriatric bikers is at least as professional as being a "cook" flipping burgers at McDonald's!

Unlike you, Glenny actually was a musician. You, you're a garden variety poser.

Thanks for your comment, as I have had so many positive comments on my version of that song, I know how to classify your opinions. Be sure and let us know if you ever get a video of one of your gigs.

If anyone has any ideas that they can help me with. I have tried the basics. Craigslist, bandmix.com, houstonbands.net, and plenty more... I just need a little help.
I want all of my profits to go to charity in the end. I just want to give back!
If any one can help me thank you
