Haley was barely here before the change, too busy with work/playing/drinking, I guess.

I'm friends with Planet (Mark) and JW (John) on FB.
Planet was on an extended vacation and said he will return.
JW is buys with music and didn't find anything much to interest him here anymore.

It became unpleasant here on the forum for a while. That pissed me off enough to bitch which I hate to do. But the bottom line is I like having a place to talk music with other folks.

So in that spirit: I thought I'd left my garage band behind when I moved from Gwinnett Co. GA to Roswell. (45 min to 1 hr ride)

Nah. It's worth the ride.

We played last night and it was one of those magical nights - the blend was perfect. I could hear the vox (male and female) and both guitarists.

I played bass - me and the drummer had a blast since we weren't propping up any lames. (all the guys have pro exp. both club and orig.) Plus I got to give my pal's two sons piano lessons. (I'm two days ahead of them thus I am a teacher 8) )

Note to new folks: I first met these guys through Bandmix. I play guitar and work on my concept album with one of them - we both play with the garage band and I switch to bass. There are plenty of interesting musical things going on - but don't expect to support yourselves playing clubs.

Not every Bandmix contact worked out but all provided insight.

Yeah, I think that's it.
.
No one wanted to hang out with, well . . . basically: angry, sarcastic, insulting jerks.
The trolls drove away a lot of good folks; folks who just didn't like associating with that kind of person.
It went on for such a long time that folks learned that if you post here, you will be insulted, and, well; who needs that?
.
In all phases of my life, with all the people I know and talk to everywhere, no matter where I went - in person or the internet - the most mean-spirited sarcasm and insults and anger I ever saw anywhere: was right here.
.
So, I left; I don't let those kinds of people into my life.
And I deleted my account 4-5 years ago, because there was really no reason to come around, I didn't want to keep getting angry all the time.
. . . not my thing.
.
About 2 years later, I started coming around again, but as a visitor.
.
But then I stopped coming around, when I saw that people were coming here just to insult people and start arguments. That time, I didn't delete my account; I was starting to see a pattern.
And, a couple years back, when folk started treating each other decently again, I eventually signed up again .
.
I saw that the angry idiots came in waves, and it takes about a year for the wave to slowly build up.
.
I think I might have been here longer than anyone here (shortly after Bandmix first went online).
It used to be a really nice place to shoot the breeze, before the trolls.
.
So - give it time. The people that left might check in (once every 2-4 months or so). When they see that they can NOW actually say something without some loudmouth calling them names, they'll start coming back.
Currently, right now, we're all pretty much friends, here, eh?

I want to be friends with all of you.

There seems to be a lot of talent around here. I've listened to several posted links, and haven't been disappointed.

In time, maybe my little drop in the sea of talent will be heard.

I'm still young. There's a lot of time left.

I never heard such a pack of whiners.

Don't forget to dye that grey hair or maybe that's why your whining?

So many weaklings and outright boobs, don't go on stage around here.
They will tear you a new one faster than you can say "thin skin" and that's if they aren't throwing something.

If you can't handle someone giving you a minor amount of grief, just how the heck do you survive out there when you are doing it for real?
I'm guessing that you don't play much. Develop a thick skin or wear a maxi pad, all the same to me but no one really cares if you whine and cry, just remember that everyone gets the same treatment.

Like the meek dog at the dogpark, don't run from them, stand your ground. No one likes a dog with some fight left in him still because the first offending dog is probably going to pay the tab for the rest of the pack, but after that one gets the message via wound or what have you, the others will realize you aren't an easy meal.

Hey Captain. Long time no........

I haven't been here in quite a while. I check back in and the Wild West has been turned into the Ladies Knitting Circle. People whining about bullies and “wannabees”.

No wonder it's a ghost town now.

And I say that with all due respect.

Philby

Philby hasn't been around in quite a while. I've talked to him on the phone a few times, he had some serious problems, divorce, no computer, moved, no work, got hurt, pretty much put through the wringer. Last time we talked he was doing better and things seemed to be looking up, I need to get in touch I guess, it's been a while.

But since you asked...he was doing ok last time we talked.

I've been here a long time too, usually tried to stay out of the arguments for the most part, and when I got blasted I just went on about my business and didn't give them the satisfaction of a pissed off response. I don't say much in this section sometimes, pretty much don't have anything to add, so why say anything at all?

Hey 90, what's doing? I take it that you're still playing and doing well.
The cardinal rule of life is "don't bother too much with what others do, make sure you are doing what you need to do".
The rest doesn't matter.

You know, I kind of miss Cliffie's posts as well. I know I will regret saying that. lol
His posts were comedic and you know I read everything.

I liked the trolls because they make me laugh, even when they are being serious.
I'm probably as much a troll as the rest. (shrugs) Someone wise once said to me "consider the source" when others really go bonkers. It lightens the load.

PS: Much rather have the wild west, than the knitting circle. Glad to see you are doing well.

Hey Cap -

Yeah, we're still on the Dive Bar World Tour, with a few high end gigs thrown in for laughs. Played Bob's Country Bunker last month.

The Wild West was fun to read, but now we have a kinder, gentler forum. Just settle in with a nice cup of Earl Grey and share some of your open mic stories........

Makes for stimulating reading.

Are you playing out these days?

Regards,

Bob
