Hey, you're a musician, not a psychologist, eh?
There are always going to be people like that, don't let it bother you.
Lots of folks are dreaming . . . let them dream; not your problem.
Just say "Okay," and forget about them for the rest of your life.

That's what I do, I don't have time for wishy-washiness.
I used to run into folks that would gladly send emails back and forth, talking about their music and their "dreams" for as long as you let them.
I think what it is, - is that many folks just want to make believe they're real musicians so that they can talk to the genuine musicians.
Maybe they're fans, maybe it makes them feel important, maybe nothing . . . but - who cares?

Again, what I do is to just say "Okay," and forget about them for the rest of me life.
Spend your time thinking about the folks who you'll be playing with, and the songs you're working on, or something.
Forget them.

That is what I responded to this last guy: "okay", but I did throw in that its a great place to meet other musicians.

Things were easier back in the old non-internet days. The 'wannabees' stayed at home playing in their bedrooms and the real musicians were out playing.
