Why should he go to jail

For lying to Congress under Oath, for doing an illegal activity and violating the laws of Baseball, for lying to his fans, for possibly now influencing youth to do what he does. That is enough reason to condone a jail sentence, even if it is 2 months, just be something.

Oh I am taking bets he will.

If Miss Gold medal winner went, he's going too. Even worse he may get barred from the hall of fame for using steroids.

Next victim is ANDY PETIT. Did you see the torso on him? GOOD GOD, he went from chicken boy to Popeye enthusiast in just a few short years.

I think he gives ATLAS a day off from pedaling that bike at the center of the world.

I hope the only stupid person who influences my children is me! I talk to them as adults from the womb. You know you can lead a horse to water.
Children are more aware of the stupidity in their environment than people think. That is one reason we rebel as youth. Its these nanny state socalists that want you to believe we are incapable of deciding for ourselves. I passed my nursing board psych questions by looking for the most " its someone elses fault" answer. "Stand up and be responsable for youself loser" was never the right answer in their mind. Thats why I like the Captain, we may not always agree, but he aint got no problem standing up.

I disagree with everyone of those reasons

1) Lying to congress concearning an illegal activity - The fact that drugs are illegal is the most ridiculous thing in the first place. As a free person how can anyone have the authority to tell you what you can and cant put in your own body. So the fact that he lied to congress over a victimless crime meanse nothing to me.

2) Lying to his fans - I am going to assume that you are joking on that one.

3) Influencing youth to do what he does - Again, direct conflict with the concept of liberty. It is the parents job to raise their children correctly and teach them that drugs are bad, the fact that an adult is choosing to put something into his body is irrelavent. Is it good to do steriods, of course not, but it does not give the right to tell him he cant.

All I have to say to that is.... Jail... Period. We need to show people what is right and wrong, and maybe that will be somewhat of a force behind slowing down this nonstop train from Hell called drugs. Drugs should be illegal, the only thing I am not against is legalized marijuana for pain use - that is about it. There is barely any justice in this country and it is time we bring some to it. So yes, put these steroid users, and liars to the Congress, in jail. If we lied to the congress we would be thrown behind bars, so he should be too.

Patriot Act, wire monitoring et al...

Yes, restrictions on privacy are of concern. However, our country, like most democratic countries, have limits on privacy issue. You have to understand that there is no such thing as "absolute" rights, and never has been. There are ALWAYS limits, and usually reasonable limits, to such rights. For example, we have a right of free speech, but almost everyone recognizes that this "right" does not extend to screaming "Fire!" in a crowded theater as a prank, when there is no fire. People die trampling one another to get out, and a court will imprison you for excersizing your free speech in such a manner. There are always limits. We have a right to privacy, but in a workplace your employer can legally monitor your activities, through surveillance cameras. But while they can record you in the workplace, they cannot legally install such devices in the bathroom. This is recognised as an intrusion on an expected right to privacy, namely undressing, even though you are on their property.

You are accurate, in that we lose a degree of privacy with tools such as wire tapping. This is why balance is required, and a system of checks and balances, to offset unreasonable invasions of privacy. We have such checks and balances in this country. The fears that we will become a Nazi state, are a stretch, to say the least. We have a free press. We have a multi-party system. When the country divides, very often, almost right down the middle, on various issues, with rich and powerful people inhabitting both sides, no one is suddenly going to unite us, for the purposes of turning our country into a socialist or communist state.

One thing you should consider, is that there are hundreds of millions of Americans and "visitors" in this country. They can tap every single phone line, hundreds of millions, if they want to, but who will disseminate that information? Billions of man hours on phones and emails, requires billions of hours of dissemination. No one is listening to you calling Bush an explitive, cause there are millions of people doing it every day. No one is ready to pounce on you setting up a quarter bag of hydro for the next week. There is sophisticated software, looking for buzz words, but it still requires an army of professional disseminators to comb through what it all means. Software alone doesn't accomplish this. It merely red flags things, usually very serious things, not the local X-Box champion, casually saying that he wishes he could perform some Halo-type moves in the White House, wouldn't that be cool?

It's supposed to be me, that is guided by fear, according to you and Irminsul, but clearly that is projection. It is you guys that have an irrational and unreasonable fear here. Read what I wrote above again, and chill out. No one is breaking our society down today, or tomorrow for that matter. Remember the Y2K bug? There were fundamental Christians at that time, claiming that the government would use it to instill martial law. Did that happen? That was the perfect opportunity, but no one did that. Why wasn't there any "manufactured" threats occuring by our government on our own soil then? Perfect opportunity. Nothing happened. That was 8 years ago bro. We could have been well into martial law by now. Why would "they" waste such a grand opportunity? Cause NO ONE, no matter how power hungry they may be, is looking to turn the freedoms we enjoy into a Nazi state. It didn't happen in Y2K and it is NOT going to happen now. We ARE a freedom loving country, where personal freedoms are concerned especially. We are of mixed origins, so there are thousands of cultures living here, thousands of religions, hundreds of languages. We have a free press, yes much of it is consolidated by mega companies, but they are companies owned by divergent politics. Fox News is NOT CNN, and CNN is NOT MsNBC. Then there is the radio. How is it I can turn Howard Stern on (well, now he's on Sirius, but you get the point) on one channel, and with a minute flip of the dial, suddenly be listening to Rush Limbaugh? From fart jokes and sex with animals humor, to ultra-conservative babble? One extreme to the other. Then there is the INTERNET, the wild west of the modern era!

No one can control all this bro. Relax.

That bearded guy is a multi-millionaire from an exceedingly rich family. He was trained as a "freedom fighter" by our own CIA for purposes of kickiing the Soviet Union's ass, and he has the money and discernement to hire other religious zealots, experienced in bomb making and the like, on the payroll. Don't compare that to a five year old.

The only historic example we have of using suicide bombers as guided missiles, is the Kamikaze pilots of World War II. That is almost 40 years ago now. 40 years. That's a long time bro.

No one expected this dude. Hijackers have NEVER killed themselves and the passengers in a Kamikaze style assault. The military in coordination with the FAA, has NEVER seen something like this. There was NO plan for how to coordinate between such agencies. Air attacks came from OUTSIDE the country, not WITHIN the country. Was it a single instance? Did the plane hit the building on purpose or was the pilot inexperienced? How many planes were being used? Looked like one at first. What was the military supposed to do? Shoot down it's own civilians? That order needed to come from higher up, when you are talking about taking the lives of HUNDREDS of Americans.

No one knew the answers to these questions at the time bro.

Now they do.

Show people whats right and wrong, thats funny. So you want to show them that its wrong to do drugs that are deemed illegal but its perfectly fine to take oxy's and perks, and drink alcohol, and take creatine. You dont see a problem with that? Where do you draw the line on what is right and wrong. It is not up to government to decide what we put in our body, it is our decision. In order for there to be a crime doesnt there need to be a victim? Who is the victim if some dumb ass wants to sit at his house and shoot heroin. We need to all take responsability for ourselves, we do not need government to tell us whats best for us, we can make that decision on our own.

The Holocaust was a different issue and shall never happen again, Israel would never allow it without destroying whoever were to start it. Now, I am not trying to be condescending, Irminsul, but by bringing up that paradigm of the Holocaust aren't you using the fear tactic as well? Saying that they did the same thing and if we allow it we are heading down that road? It sounds a bit hypocritical to me. *Shrug*

I wasn't talking about The Holocaust at all. I was addressing the Nazi Reich, which took an enormous toll on the German nation and her people. It is a standing exampe of what happens when a government plays the FEAR card to force compliance, and says "hand over all your rights to us. Trust us, really!"

Craig I hope you are right. There ARE powers at work to assimilate the USA into a World Governed Body. Its you and me who prevent it. After WW2 a Jap general was asked if Japan had any intent of invasion. You said it. We have just had 14 or so years of a government that loosened regulations, and our assholes are all hurting because of it.

If they made drugs legal tomorrow would you start shooting heroin? Probably not, the fact that drugs are illegal makes no difference, people are going to do drugs whether it's legal or not. All making them illegal does is create an underground market for them. Do you think a crack dealer cares about selling crack to a 10 year old, I dont think so. If they were legal, you would have to go to a drug store and they would card you, and the clerk isnt going to pull out a gun and blow the kid away to steal his money. If drugs were legal what would the gangs sell? Cookies?

Let's look at it for a minute, what happens when the miller guy and the coors guy pull up in their trucks to deliver their drugs, they say hi to each other and deliver the drugs no problem, they dont shoot each other and steal the product. Apply this same principle to all drugs, there you have it.
