I DON'T TAKE LIGHTLY TO LIARS, CON MEN and THIEVES. So If I wander into a GC/SA and I see something that is way over priced, I take it seriously. These are all tools I use often and to make money. When you look to rob me, you are pissing into the fan.

If I go to your store and you lie to me, even a minor lie, that in all likely-hood will be the last time you EVER see me. (Be honest or be gone.)

Guitar Center/ Sam Ash are not reputable in this area and we all know it. They purposely inflate everything they sell, so they can have a sale and misrepresent "the savings" you will feel by buying from them. (bwahahaaaaa)

Even worse, the whole point of this thread is that they couldn't even be bothered to get a real musician to do their commercial(s). I just don't get it. The actors/actresses were all unknowns and couldn't even play one note, but they all PRETENDED they were.

Now I know you don't believe in trust in advertising, but I do. I have a very short list of companies in my AO that do what I need them to do and don't rob me just because I play music from time to time. They understand I often need things fixed yesterday and I am going to put all of my equipment through it's paces every single time I play. I often pay a little more for these considerations, but I am not playing in front of GI JOE, SHE-RA and HE-MAN either. (Zip I'll never forget that pic, I laughed so hard.)

If you want to dick around with pos companies like sweet water, musician's friend, sam ash and guitar center, you deserve what you get.

I got offered a minor sponsorship from a music store that's not too far away that I have bitched about in the past here. I laughed when I heard the guy pitch it to me.

I then asked him if "Ernie" was still working in the back on guitars. He stopped a second and said "yes", slowly.
I told him that I would have to decline. He asked why. I told him that Ernie f**k up a strat of mine and I had to pay 150$ just to get it back, even though the problem was not fixed.

I then told him that even if he was on fire....well you get the drift.

I'm guessing that if you plink around in the garage and you don't do much, it really doesn't matter where you shop when you don't mind throwing hard earned coin around, but I have a different set of morals for music stores that I haunt and terrorize.

I'll spend money in a mom and pop music store anyday over any of the other chain stores because mom and pop have a sense of fair play, where the chain stores do not.

You spend your money however you want, but I am all about being strategic. And if you can't figure out what that means, look up some prices on the used gear they have at GC. It's usually almost retail.

When I want to be cheated, I'll call my ex-wife. Otherwise GC and the like is great if you are a novice and don't have a clue what you are doing. (Check the internet for pricing before you get raped during halftime, jr.)

It's not the public's fault if you aren't smart enough to avoid getting ripped off because you didn't bother to price check and check the internet to see who the real cretins are online these days.

Ignorance is not a valid excuse except for the mentally damaged...
