So this is a site filled with musicians - many of whom are looking for a band, or other musicians to play with. So here's a suggestion, your profile NEEDS to include at least one sound sample of you playing and/or singing! C'mon guys! Make it easy on those of us who are trying to complete a band to find someone who might fit the bill! I can't tell you how much time I've wasted talking to and auditioning musicians from this site who I could have easily saved us both time and trouble if I could have first heard an audio sample. I'm not saying they're bad musicians; they just don't fit what we're doing and it would have been pretty evident right away. SO PLEASE ADD A SOUND SAMPLE TO YOUR PROFILE. It's a MUSIC site!

a perfectly legit beef there....but the fact is you're preaching to choir. i'd venture to say there aren't many regulars here on the forum who don't have music avail on their page. vinny doesn't count (backwards from 99 by threes..but i've no doubt he could).

i'd also say that those less experienced (and maybe more challenged) who don't have it all figured out yet might possibly learn something from a forum where there are musicians who know one or two things.... and are generous enough to share because they think it's important to do so.

....your advice, for instance.

Thanks Planetguy. With that being the case, maybe the folks who run Band Mix could make it a default when you set up your profile - or at least create a pop up that stresses the importance of including a sound sample?

Well, Dave, it's like this: The Bandmix admin runs this site in hopes that a fair number of people will pay for premium membership to supplement the meager amount of revenue they get from streaming ads. So they're unlikely to want to limit membership in any way.
But, you, being the astute person that you are, has figured it out - it is seldom worth the bother to audition or contact anyone who doesn't have some samples of their abilities online somewhere. It's something I've certainly figured out from my exhausting partner search of the last 18 months!
Good luck in your hunt!

I will say that it took me a couple months to get some music up but I received some very helpful advice and comments from folks as I prepared to reintegrate myself into the business side of things.

On one's first visit it's hard to know how the game is played until you see the field.

Two of the three individuals presently in our band that were recruited from Bandmix had no samples.
Those two men have been the core of our group for about seven years.
Though I agree from the standpoint of one posting themselves as available it would be best to have some examples on your profile.
I have to say that from the point of view of the one searching, and by direct experience, it would be foolish to dismiss a possible contact just because they have no samples.
It is difficult enough bucking the odds. Why would one decrease those odds by placing artificial restrictions on the number of contact you would make ?

I say contact EVERYONE whom has been "active" in the last 24-48 hrs.
And do it every other day until you accomplish the task.
I did this for several months before our drummer signed up for Bandmix and we have been together since the beginning of the project NOISY KUNG FU.
It only took me two days to get two guitarist to audition this last time around . . . two days guys.

Don't place artificial limitations on something that is already difficult enough.
