I'll say it again: what have George or I done since being made moderators that you do not agree with?

Mike - I had this debate to deal with daily for several months after taking over as moderator on another site about 13 years ago. I've seen every argument you can think of 37 times. None of them hold water. You'll have a few people who just cannot accept the fact that someone else is in charge, and no matter what you do they keep calling it "censorship" or stomping on their right to "free speech", both of which are without substance.

No matter how you go about it no argument holds up. When you signed up on Bandmix you electronically signed a LEGALLY BINDING AGREEMENT.

I poked around and found it before I found this thread or even looked at the forums.

Fact is you agreed on joining Bandmix to allow the forum admin to oversee and place limits on all forum content, whether you like it or not. It's not cencorship, when you agreed to it of your own free will. It has nothing to do with your right to freedom of speech, you also agreed to allow Bandmix to limit that of your own free will.

You are free to post whatever you want, within the limits specified in that Terms of Use (TOU) Agreement. If Bandmix doesn't like it they have options that can be employed. You can't bitch about it, you agreed to it, you cannot create an account without that agreement. So the fact that you have a user name here proves you did agree, of your own free will, to abide by the TOU.

If you don't like it, you know where the door is.

Or Bandmix can cancel the account. Or simply delete unacceptable posts.

And in extreme cases they can cause you a hell of a lot of legal grief. As I believe I stated before, that TOU will stand up in court. Your digital signature will too.

This is not about censorship, it's about following the guidelines in the TOU that you agreed to, period. You gave up your freedom when you clicked OK. It's now limited. That has nothing to do with your constitutional rights, you gave that up willingly and as I said it will stand up in court. Bandmix is not trying to curtail your freedom of speech, just get you to act like a decent human being. If you read through the TOU it's all common sense.

Pretty much like following the golden rule of the bible. I'm not religious at all, but I do firmly believe in that one...

Treat other people the way you would want them to treat you.

It's not hard to do either. If you don't want someone insulting you, just don't insult them. Pretty simple. Most forums have an almost identical TOU and that's basically what it tries to do, get you to do things that way.
