Are you one of the last men standing with any balls or are you another one, willing to just accept what is handed out by another man?

The bottom line is that it is Band Mixes property. They can do whatever they want.

Personally I would never call for the censure of stringdancer or Jimmy Danger, or Planetguy, or Vinny. Many others that over all are just people.
I miss Jimmy...
Mike, I don't hold any malice to any of these these people, IT'S THE NET.

However any threat of censure by any other man is as bad as a government creating laws in the name of protection...

Go on Mike. Give up your FREEDOM. Do it willingly.

FREEDOM, the only reason to LIVE.

I'm glad they also made George a forum moderator.

Glenny - this is about the sheer spam ("authentic watches") and the kind of posts that 'my willie' made - they had no content, just insults, and his garbage posts about having 'all the power' and that he was in charge of this place.

When someone spams this way, you can't see if there is any new posts in the forum worth reading (and maybe replying to), because all you see is "last post by 'my willie' ..."

No one is going to censor your anti-leader rants. As has already been pointed out, this is a private forum with rules laid out quite clearly when you signed up. Because its private, the 'owners' can choose what they want here. What they want is a way that they can generate a little income from people paying for premium membership and from the streaming ads. If the forum is filled with nothing but hate, that just drives potential new members away.

That's not the point. Spam is so minor, IGNORE IT.
It's Band Mixes website... They make money on the ads generated by continuous traffic. Mike and George are decent people... But in the name of GOD I will never allow another man to censor me or tell me I have no right to self protection. Sorry dude... Like I said it's their website.

Yes, you are exactly right. This is Band Mix’s site. They have rules against spam and they are allowed to enforce their rules. They have chosen to do that.

This is exactly why YOD is so involved with the MARCH of REMEMBRANCE. Kudos to him.

Hayden said it best..."Stick your head in the sand, You leave your butt in the air".

Sorry Paul, either you don't see it or we just totally disagree.

Thanks for the kind words. What I see is that "my willie" defines troll. His entire intent is negativity. I'll go as far as to say his intent is evil. Most of us here don't want to suffer through his ugliness. In fact I have stayed away sometimes due to him and his kind.

In fact, in true American fashion, my rights end when they interfere with the rights of others. His rights ended because he was trampling on the owners' rights and the members' rights.

.....and often keeps long timers away as well.

just because anyone HAS power (as in moderating..or ANYTHING) does NOT necessarily mean that they will abuse it or subjugate their will, and their beliefs upon anyone who expresses views they don't hold themselves through censorship.

that "leap of logic" is the same short sided knee jerk paranoia that makes some people always suspect and expect the worst from others.

mike, george....thanks for stepping up and taking this on. i have no doubts that you'll handle things just fine. afterall, you have never shown any evidence of ANY dickish behavior. so, why would anyone concern themselves needlessly about the possibility of such silliness now?

I was asked by the Mothership to participate.
I agreed.
I was give instruction to focus on obvious spam.
That's what I intend to do.
I would like a more functional site for all of us, irregardless of our differences.
That is fully what I intend to do.

Honestly I intended to do so quietly and quite anonymously in hopes to avoid wasted time.
This is the only time I intend to address the situation other than performing the duties I was requested.

So George, I assume you have decided to become the new sheriff in town. For whatever reasoning you justified this... I am glad that you are such a man that you can sit judgement of someone else.
In 5 years reading this site I have never been offended by ANYTHING... EXCEPT THIS.

It starts out the same way as the I.R.S. Established as a powerful agency to collect taxes to support our government... And then morphing into an agency that will PUNISH anyone that disagrees with current administration. In other words silencing anyone that disagrees. Ask LOIS LERNER. I forgot, she doesn't want to say anything.

This is just a little web site. I am SHOCKED at how QUICKLY it is rationalized that this is OK. Since I see few, that will stand up when real life situations of abuse occur... This was just a test, and most of you failed.

Let me roll all your eyes for you.

Remember FREEDOM is not just a word!

Can't you see you are in the minority here? Don't roll "all our" eyes, just your own.
You are worried about things gettng more dictorial here because of past history elsewhere that has nothing to do with this site.

Like George, this is the last I'll say in the matter. Our actions will speak louder than any anti-control words you spout.

Discernment is not judgement.

Do a little research.

Your beginning to sound ignorant.

Just like George I'm sure you will have plenty more to say.
If your actions speak louder, than you would resign from this new little bit of petty power that you have acquired. You would tell Band Mix that you don't want alienate any one. The very ideals you espouse to be so needed are doing the very thing you are attempting to protect. BULLSPIT!
I will admit you are amusing. :)

Congrats to both new moderators, I hope they don't have as much trouble as I did when I took over as moderator of a PC Tech Support site about this time in 2001. Still there, but mostly just lurking these days, got burned out after about 8 years of it.

I saw the same harsh attitude and a lot of the same "yeah like we really need a tyrant" drivel, but after a while it settled down although a few had to be booted who were just plain troublemakers from square one.

The job is to simply enforce forum rules. Period. If you don't like it, you shouldn't have signed up and agreed to those rules to begin with. I can't find a link to forum rules (big fat hairy HINT to the moderators) but I kept a link to them in my bookmarks and simply told people that they electronically signed a legally binding agreement to abide by those rules when creating their accounts. Those rules generally include language (that you agreed to) saying you will not abuse, insult, harass, threaten or otherwise annoy other members.

These moderators (which we badly needed) are here to enforce those rules. I sincerely hope they do. It's not a matter of censorship, or your right to freedom of speech, the website owner trumps your right to freedom of speech, and that will hold up in court. You're in HIS turf, he (or they) can make and enforce whatever rules necessary, and if you don't like them, don't sign up.

The thing is, most people don't really read those rules when they sign up, just like they don't read the licensing agreements when installing software, and that has caused a lot of grief when some less than honest software developers included spyware. But don't scream about censorship and free speech, as long as you sit here on someone else's forum, you don't have it.

You also need to realize that the moderators (should be the same here) can see your IP Address, which is how we ban members where I'm moderator. Usually it's for spamming, after the first few months it was very rare for me to have to ban anyone for attitude. But I did have to show a few people how easy it would be for me to have their local sheriff knocking on their door...had a couple of internet accounts shut down, since it it usually also a violation of your internet account terms of use to insult, harass or threaten others by using their internet service.

So it's not a matter of censorship or your rights, you lost those the minute you got online. It's a matter of doing what you agreed to in the first place. Or getting your ass booted outta here.

I have to admit George... This is the first time you have placed any negative or should I say insulting words in a post to ANYONE in over the 5 years I have watched you grow and struggle to keep a band together.

I know I have encouraged you in more than one post over the years.

I guess I must have been ignorant.

Discernment of FREEDOM, will never allow judgment of FREEDOM, and an inroad to the destruction of FREEDOM.

By the way you said you weren't going to post on this again... BUT YOU DID!!! We are all human, and God knows this. At least I will keep that in mind... P.S.

I hope you have the balls to not take this personally. Now I fear that is questionable. So remember when you get me banned...

FREEDOM, The first gift God gave us after life itself.

Actually Billy this is not about rights. There are NO RIGHTS on a privately owned web site. In society, politics, and REAL life there ARE. DON'T EVER CONFUSE THOSE TWO.

This is just about censorship. I think it is funny that Band Mix would abdicate their authority over their personal site to any one outsider.

I think it is sad that anyone would agree to do this. That includes you also, since you were so willing to do it. SPAM disappears real fast when NO ONE answers. I don't want to buy flowers from Holland... Amusing.

FREEDOM, You, all, better get a grip on it because there are many evil people that want to STRIP that away from the average person.

I'm one of those "If it ain't broken, don't fix it" guys. life's experiences have taught me that something that is working generally breaks only after it has been "fixed".

I have never had a problem with Willy or anyone on the Bandmix forum that the ignore button hasn't solved for me without my running to Bandmix to whine about something someone posted that I don't personally like.

But then, that's me.
