Bandmix periodically sends me emails recommending other area musicians to me. in case I'm interested in getting together with them.
Well, I am . . .
. . . but . . .
I live in Connecticut, and half the musicians they recommend to me are in New York!
I told them about this problems several years back . . . they never corrected it.
.
Does anyone else have a similar problem?

No
But all too often my 'recommendations' I've already been in contact with and are not interested or suitable.

The other ones being recommended to me have been in my band for seven years already.

It's a neat gimmick . . . less than functional it would seem.

P.S.
Good to hear from you RM.
Hope your doing well.

Have you set up your contact info to search on your zip? I get some off beat ones some times but they are usually within twenty miles.

It's all by zip code and a certain radius. Seems to be about a 30 or 40 mile distance.

I live in Madison CT, about 7 miles from Long Island Sound.
To get to long Island takes either an expensive ride on a boat, or a long circuitous drive through New York City, then back out through long Island. Probably about a 3 - 5 hour drive, depending upon what part of Long island . . .
I'm not a paying member, so I have no right to complain, but I can't think of any reason why I'd want to drive that long - to meet an 'unknown.'
That's a lot of driving aggravation and gas money, eh?
. . . 'course, I'd probably drive that far for Paul McCartney or Leo Kottke or Eric Clapton or Tommy Emanuel. or someone like that . . .
( . . .chances are that they wouldn't be interested in me, though, eh?)
:D

Well, yeah, the radius doesn't take into consideration the water in between you and them. SO when you get the email with the recommendations it tells you what town they're in, just ignore the ones that are too far. I browse the profiles almost daily looking for new ones before the automatic email notices come out.
