Starfish Scott wrote:Political people make pathetic musicians, unless your music is suffering from the get-go.
The more I hear about politics, the more I realize that is all some of you got to talk about as you suffer from mediocrity.
Speak softly and carry a large musical stick.
"Play it, don't say it".
If you are playing and you want to talk political sh*t, make sure you wipe your mouth.
If you don't play much to not at all, you need to focus on what you want to do and stop being a fool. That should eliminate a few.
Are you running for office? no? then stfu. No one wants to hear that noise or we'd be watching Msnbc with the rest of the geriatric crew.
Are you playing anywhere or working on some music? no? Well then maybe you should.
Are you a musician or a politician?
One is an admirable trait, the other is just another pontificator who knows very little about the subject at hand, but that doesn't stop the annual "running of the mouths".
You know where we release the locals and we stone all the fake politicians to death and sink their bodies in the ocean. LOL
(You got a barbell I can borrow? I am all out of concrete.)
And if this keeps up, I can see a few more that will go on MY ignore list as this sh*t is as tired as your lucky condom from '82.
I'd rather listen to a cover band. (ecccch)
scott, i hear you and i get where you're coming from. i'd say that 95% of the threads i've started have all been music related.
try as i do to keep out of the political arena on a "music site".....i sometimes come up short.
and then, after reading some pious, hateful, and holier than thou flag waving BS that i see to be nothing more than an excuse to discharge righteous indignation and an excuse to spew bile....all while the person is wrapping themselves up in Old Glory.....well, that's when my lack of discipline makes me wade in to give MY take on things.
w Jimmy D gone..... w the exception of Dane and the rare times Dead Gtrs is around to speak up ( another good musician and contributor who's made himself scarce) all the political stuff around here is right wing ballyhoo-ing.
and i can live w that up to a point. but i see no reason to level attacks and name calling at those who hold different views than myself.
and in the case of haley...i find it interesting that although he regularly posts political....even though he says he counts me as a friend, and though he respects my musical skills....he says he's put me on "ignore" for the last yr because of my political views!
now...when it comes to lying, and distorting things, putting words in other's mouths, picking a fight and then laying it off on the other guy.....that's bush league chump behavior.
and when someone does pick a fight w me and resorts to that behavior...i'm gonna call 'em out on it everytime.
i told glen yesterday that in real life i try to limit my interaction w dishonest people so i should do the same here. and that's my PLAN. whether i can stick to that or for how long...well, that's another question entirely.
i do hate liars and hypocrites so the next time i'm baited w more lies and hypocrisy i WILL try to ignore it....but i make no promises.
in the meanwhile i will continue to start musical threads and participate in other's.
i'm checking out of the political arena (for a while anyway).
