There are a couple of groups in town and they just play periodically and they don't have to practice much because they have been playing forever together. I think it would be good to try something new if they would just look in their own backyard they could get a good facelift without going out of town and it would certainly freshen up the sound and the performance. I think people get complacent and they don't want to put anymore effort into it and it becomes stagnant. I think they should put me in as a trial and see what kind of response they get, I know it would be good to get some new blood in the band. There is one in particular. Maybe I could get them to back me up for a small project and see how it goes.

degree of pain = degree of desire choose the song that most fits the way you feel (or want to) present / play it every time you jam with new people, with audience get feedback watch their reaction. surround yourself with good people. if you got the conviction, others will help with the connections... in the johnny cash movie, sam phillips asks john something like " if you got hit by a truck and you're laying there dying and you had 45 minutes to sing about something that summed up your life up to now or what you want everyone know or feel, what would that be ?" so john presented his own song.

And what the f**k is your problem?
We're doing what we can, and you guys have nothing better
to do than make (unprovoked) smart remarks?

it's all good we need friction for growth. some of the harder playing bands are always fussing and fightin amongst themselves. then they are able to channel it into an intense presentation that leaves the audience going home drained and not really feeling like they wanna damage some tissue!
