Don’t you all worry, when the sh*t hits the fan legalized pot will sweep the nation. There’s a big difference between those who would take to the streets and accuse the current regime as a dictatorship and the same who would ask of their peers, “Pass the nachos please, what’s on TV?” :)

When the SHTF my friend - you are more likely to have weed than to have nachos. We could very likely end up eating the smoke.

Weed can be fun but when it all goes south we are going to need our situational awareness - sadly, the days of grooving will be over.

I'll miss electricity though. I was never much for playing acoustic. 8)

Saw a spot on TV a day or 2 ago, they said 1/8 oz is going for just over $70. Not going to stop the black market that way, 1/4 oz was going for $30 last I heard.

The 25% tax is a joke, going to make prices high no matter how you go about it., 5 or 10% I could go for, 25% is crazy.

They also noted that you could still lose your job. That will have to change, I expect it to be challenged before long. The thing many people don't understand, especially employers, is the urine test does not detect what is active in your system, just metabolytes formed 4 hours or so after its use...in other words, after the effects are gone. You can literally do a line of coke or smoke a doobie in the parking lot, pee in a bottle and come out clean, if you've never touched it before.

The drug testing done by employers will have to change, once it's legal. Soon as someone challenges it, some means will have to be implemented to detect what is actively in the system now, rather than left over metabolytes.

I'm wondering how all this will play out. One thing I do see as a problem, pot has no more place on the job than beer, too dangerous in many situations. Like machinist, which I did for 8 years. No way I would light up before going to work. Too easy to lose a finger and I need those most days...

As for the rest, well, we'll just have to see how it plays out. I was hoping to see a much better price range, which would put a serious dent in the black market. But if shop prices are higher than street, no way. Right now it looks like a lot higher than street. That won't do the trick.

You bring up some very good points. Would I expect anything less from you. TO BE CONTINUED.

First the late sen Kennedy admitted to smoking pot... but it was beyond the three mile limit, at sea. My question is was it air lifted in, or did he violate the pot laws by having possession of the pot before he sailed.

The same with ex president Clinton. He smoked it but he didn't inhale. Well the problem with that is that at the point he didn't inhale he was still in possession of an illegal drug. DID EVERY ONE MISS THAT POINT!

Now I'm not anti pot, I don't use it, I don't believe in all the persecutions that have happened in the past.
I have one customer that suffers from a degenerative nerve disease. Doctors can legally put him on a permanent opioid drug. He tried it and got off it very fast. Instead he has chosen to break the law by using a little pot to control his disease. In other words he smokes a little rather than being clobbered by heavy opium or pain relieving drugs.

As far as employment... Testing for pot smoking is a very interesting question because unlike alcohol it can be detected weeks after the usage.
Now here is another conundrum... As a CDL Hazmat qualified driver I have to make myself available to drug testing for any one I work for.
THAT INCLUDES MYSELF! These are Federal motor carrier laws.

I am curious how Colorado and Washington states are going to get around these DOT laws.

I have one customer that was caught with 17 OZ of pot 40 years ago. Under the rockafella laws he could have been sentenced to life. He plea bargained them down to 5 years. He is still not allowed to vote as a felon.
Funny as an illegal alien, we have a huge push to allow them voting rights.

What a conundrum is developing. The laws are not being applied equally and if you are in power you can break the law with impunity.

Bought, sold & smoked enough marijuana to fill an aircraft carrier.

Legal, illegal, free or expensive.
It is a fools errand.
