The one important note that gets missed even with the scripture quotes, is that generosity; the willingly desire to help others is charity. The forceful demand for it is nothing more than a tax from those who have, towards those who don't.

I'm not judging whether that's a bad thing or not, just observing that no one can demand "charity". Heaven knows when things are the worse, is when the needy need the most.

I'm gonna give Slacker the benefit of the doubt --> cough, cough, Planetguy, I'm from Iowa I spent the first 24 years of my life there, and it really is true on how the Hollywood media made cracks about the backwardness of Iowa, and poked fun back on the johnny Carson Show among other tv shows.. it is a rather backwards place culturally and intellectually in many of the more rural areas of Iowa, and some former residents, (in which I am guilty of) and current residents of Iowa quite certainly do not have the ability to grasp the whole picture as well as , say, New Yorkers etc. LOL it is ignorance and not stupidity..
