Got those CAD mics yesterday, they are small, have their own small mic stand holders, too. Will test them out when I get the chance.
Stopped in at Guitar Center this afternoon while my went grocery shopping at Trader Joe's next door (convenient!)
Used equipment/guitars were practically non-existent - all hidden away in back because they know people are not going to buy used for presents. Wasn't that crowded, at least compared to other stores today.

For new 'equipment' in my studio - I finished building 6 bass traps (broadband frequency absorbers). YOu can see 5 of them in the picture below, 3 along the walls behind/beside my mixing desk, and 2 mounted to the ceiling as a 'cloud'. The 6th one is against a cabinet directly to the right, out of the picture. Also made two wedge 'super traps' but need to make a frame to fit them into the ceiling/wall places I want them.

Did a quick recording check with one of the CAD mics side-by-side with one of the GLS 57 clones I normally use for recording acoustic. Favorable, as far as I'm concerned. The low end was a little rolled off, but the mid-to highs were pretty smooth on the frequency analyzer, compared to the 57 which was peaky around 4-5K and dropped off a lot on the high end in comparison.

Unless you had a decoder ring you probably couldn't read my 'blank' post.
So here it is.

Talbot's excesses in last six months:
American Precision Bass - sweet as can be - played with a good garage band and in the words of the drummer, "That thing cuts through it!"

Gibson Firebird - best guitar I've ever owned - bought it on a whim and thank God every day that I did. Just got it.

Various boxes and such.

Now that I'm (sort of) single I'm making up for all that monetary discipline imposed upon me and getting some decent gear!

That Firebird is like playing a dream - the neck is the best I've played on and the sound is best I've ever gotten out of a guitar. I don't agree with Slacker, that sound beats playability. But in this case - both are there and at a reasonable price. Other than the fact that our culture is collapsing - these are shining times! :D
