I have quite a Jewish friends, some are more annoyed with the whole Christmas schtick than others. But if I have their mailing address, I send them a Happy Holidays card anyway!

More appropriate for this forum: Taylor's first Christmas! :D

mike, that begs the question...if you know your friends to be jewish...why send them a generic "happy holidays" card instead of a chanukah card?

in light of how many christians get their back up when they're wished "happy holidays" instead of the "merry christmas" they prefer to hear, it seems just as easy to wish those jewish friends a greeting for the holiday they celebrate, no?

when i am around christians who i KNOW celebrate christmas...i wish them a merry christmas. and to folks that i don't know... it's gonna be "happy holidays". sorry, but i will NOT assume that everyone celebrates christmas. as we all should know by now....not everyone does.

do i get offended when strangers wish me a MC? nah....but i am always more impressed when a stranger who doesn't know my religion (i'm jewish) doesn't AUTOMATICALLY assume i celebrate THEIR holiday and they play it safe by not assuming that i'm christian, and they wish me "happy holidays".

sorry, i don't think it takes any "bravery" or "courage" to wish total strangers a MC (instead of "happy holidays")....but it does show a certain lack of understanding, respect, and open mindedness that acknowledges that different people have different beliefs.

for me it's not about being PC.....it's about respect.

to all those who celebrate christmas....i wish you all a very merry christmas. and if anyone on BM other than myself celebrates chanukah....i hope it was most pleasant.

I'll be the 1st to say it (even tho u probably have heard it all your life) your a fukkin liar and syncophant Dane, u came on this forum and made up all sorts of lies about me, and persisted withit, now you are a beloved member of this forum, I guess it fits. Remember when u were going to send down some pros to get me? Hell I printed that thread off, took the trigger lock of my 4570 and was fixing to pile them boys up in the driveway like deer, and then give the cops a copy of your speech on that thread, so they could come get u. As usual your all talk.

Merry Xmas, and you got no more chances with me, beware.

1) Because Chanukah was in November this year.
2) Because I send the same card to everyone.
For the non-Jewish:
3) If they get upset at 'Happy Holidays' instead of Merry Christmas, f*ck 'em!

Just say "happy holidays", that about covers it.

As to the holiday fist-fighting in the isles, that's the other side of the holidays.

I saw some of that close up and personal yesterday.

You know it's bad when you have to say to people, "now please behave yourselves because the chances of you getting all banged up on the holidays is greater than the non-holidays and they look at each other like they still want to claw and bite".

If you can't behave, stay home and don't drink.
(that's for the NJ crews)

We have 60 some odd degree weather here today, so all the snow is melting and we're throwing open the doors and windows to let the fresh air in and let the stale winter out.

Dog-park here in a little bit, but I am wary and weary.

Last year we had some major fist fights over the holiday at the dog-park.
(I was going to take bets, but I figured that would be encouraging them.) lol

Try to be understanding even when the other parties are not, save yourself a little sanity.. Lord knows we all need that at times.

And the hunters are going crazy...I just counted 10 shotgun reports.
(Someone has the plug out and you're not supposed to shoot within 500 meters of a house, so much for that.) (I thought you can't hunt when it gets this warm?) (It's all good until I hear the pellets hit the house.) lol

Leonard, Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones, but I don't understand your logic on this one, you say, "I'll be the first one to say it" and then contradict yourself with a "(even tho u probably have heard it all your life)", so I want to know if they have been telling me all of my life I'm a liar, then how can you be the first one to say it? since ever since I was 2 years old they indeed were saying, LIAR! in the crib and they were saying, "you damn liar"! LMFAO..

yes, it was. As a "messianic" i celebrate all the holidays, but you'd be amazed at how many of my (christian) friends would get offended if you said Merry Christmas. Even Slacker doesn't "do Christmas"

Yep, some of them say that only pagans do Christmas, and I tell them that God must surely smile when "pagans" celebrate the birth of a Jewish kid that all those "pagans" worship.

Mark, I think Missouri had a lot of lead mines at one time.. so the ground water has more than it's fair share of lead and slag in it.. don't know how many ppm but probably would not need much to make Missourians crazier than hoot owls..
