5 am and the stupidity continues. A 29 year old man was just killed trying to cross the expressway. WHY? Because he ran out of gas and compounded his problem to the point of dying. Something as simple as not having a few dollars in his pocket to pay for some gas. Very sad, very stupid.

It is 25 degrees here. The stupidity continues... Help... Can we get an emergency oil delivery. We are not customers but we will be, if you drop everything and cater to our stupidity.

What do you mean? You don't have an oil truck out there 24 hours a day just in case we do something really stupid.

Proof that we have to many people that are so stupid... And they vote.

Darwin: survival of the fittest. We've catered to the stupid for so long, that the entire population's average IQ has sunk to a new low.

well, me personally....not knowing all the facts i'll not jump to any conclusions about why he ran out of gas (maybe his gauge is broken). i don't know that he ran out of gas because he was poor, so i won't assume that either.

and in the face of someone's tragic death i'll not bandy about any accusations or jump to any conclusions about their intelligence or lack thereof for the shabby, and seamy purpose of beating my drum.

to do so would only show someone to be callous, dark hearted, insensitive to the victim's survivors and well............stupid.

All sorts of reasons why he may have run out of gas. But running across an expressway is stupid.
I watched a video this morning of a traffic pileup in Wisconsin (from a Wisc DOT traffic cam) on an icey/snowy highway. Stupid people flying down the road (only black showing was tire-track lanes) way too fast. Ok, that's not unusual. But people who had already wrecked - cars all over the place, some in the breakdown lane area, etc, the people are out of their cars standing in the road as cars continue to barrel down the road towards them. Stupid!

What a tragedy and yeah, people that stand in the road are stupid.

The rest I don't know about. Some days I feel like the speeding car(s), other days I am the man in the road.

What day is it today? Car day or stand in the road day?

Don't ask me, too soon to tell.

Glenny I know you and I are in similiar business's sat night 3 am I get a call, Im out of gas, I need some emergency gas. I didnt recognize the name, I said who do you buy from normally? We buy from YYZ company, but if you will bring some right now, we will be a customer forever.

I said call us back monday morning during normal business hours and we will try to work you in.

But its an emergency!!!!!!!!!!!

I said an Emergency on your part doesnt equate to an emergency on my part.

You sorry SOB, and they slam the phone down.

There was a time a few years ago, when I would have jumped up and taken care of these people. But after doing that a few times, I realized that these same people were always having an emergency. I went to the same guys house, 3 Christmas days 3 years in a row. If you respond to most people in an emergency then they will always call you in an emergency, over the years we just culled those kind of folks out.

icy roads here in Mo. and I front a chipped and sealed (basically blacktop) road that when I moved here in 1992 was a gravel road, but they had not put salt on it or plowed it until yesterday, it's on a steep incline too, and basically where my mailbox is to the end of road where the state road is about 100-150 yards.. I keep the trees cleared on my fenceline so the sun melts the unplowed snow into a nice sheet of ice, but if it gets up to 25 or so still melts somewhat and was enough to get out and get a little food for the cats and some pancake mix for me.. it was tough going, but anything north of my mailbox up to the "tee" is shaded by trees and stays a sheet of ice once that snow is mashed down.. knock on the door at 4 PM and somebody had went off the road into the ditch north of me and needed help.. I said I could call a tow truck, but he insisted I pull him out with my 2 wheel drive pickup, my pickup does not have posi-track, and is real bad on sheets of ice, and did not want to do it since I could never have gained enough traction to do it, felt I would only put myself into the ditch or worse.. had to tell him no, and he took off grumbling, really needed a tractor or 4 wheel drive to do that I would think, looking back was I an asshole then for not trying?

People are human and yep, humans screw up sometimes. We have emergency service available as well and a few take advantage of it every year. I give people a choice and let them decide how bad they really need it.

"Our regular rate is $120/hr and our emergency after hours rate is $240/hr, 2hr minimum paid in advance. I can have a tech out there by 7pm tonight if you like for $480 or if you can wait til Monday it will be $120. How would you like me to schedule this? Will this be Visa or Mastercard?"

If they really need it now I charge their credit card, call in a service tech and pay him doubletime 2 hr min. It's a win-win for everyone.

the neighbor for some reason got a good buy on a cement truck a few years ago, and sat in his "yard" the last few years.. just found out he was burning some leaves/brush and left it unattended and the wind blew some sparks/embers underneath his cement truck and did major fire damage on it burnt air lines, air ride boots, nearly got to the fuel tank ..but anyhow he wound up selling it to a local towing service co. as a training aid.. they were going to use it to train tow truck operators how to correctly lift it back onto it's wheels when on it's side.. there must be quite a bit to know about the tow truck business.. really

WOW John... That really explains it better than I could ever say it.
Funny how every one wants to make their problem, YOUR PROBLEM.
Funny how landlords want to get a contract on old neglected equipment to avoid the responsibility. Funny how every one wants to BLAME some one else when they fuuuccck up. Once again it comes down to personal responsibility.

You put it in good perspective. For the record, the guy WAS, out of gas. Then he compounded his problem. Sad.
