this one has always been a very "religious" song to me. man, after the piano starts and you that first moan...oh, my. you know you're "going to church". 8)

The album that Leon Russell played and produced with Freddie King is simply one of the best albums of any kind ever made. Everybody should get that CD in their collection, even if it's the only blues CD they own.

I bought both "Getting Ready" and "Texas Cannonball" in 1973 at a JCPenny's, for only a couple dollars, they were already in the 'cut-outs' bin!

Leon was a big part of the sound track of my life growing up. He is the reason I need me some honky tonk keys in most band projects. We saw him with Elton John a few years ago and he is definitely slowing down but his songs still stand up today.

Song for You has been a favorite of mine since I heard it on the radio in Beaumont in about 1973. Been a big Leon fan ever since, fortunately had the chance to see him in Houston about 1977, and of course remember all the great stuff he did with Joe Cocker. and something I found out a few years ago, he mainly uses thumb and pinkie on his left hand due to an injury of some sort many many years ago. I know exactly what that's like, tendon on my left ring finger was cut in half when I was 12, still can't use it like I should be able to, I have to modify or not play chords you guys never think twice about. Barre chords HURT...so I can completely understand what Leon deals with.

Great musician, old favorite for many moons, glad he got inducted. Good to see they finally got their heads out of their ass.

To me it was obvious how influenced he was by Ray Charles! I could see it WAyyy back. He always reminded me of a white Ray Charles! 8)
